Kamar,
I think we are all still processing the new picture and the talk just has not started yet. But let me join you, because the picture in all its beauty actually struck some other thoughts in me:
1) The sun is trespassing through Adam's face.
Or is Adam trespassing through the rays of the sun?
Adam is standing still, so how can he be the one who is trespassing? It is the sun that is moving. So, it must be the sun that is trespassing through him.
Adam just by standing in the public eye the way he is and by not shrinking from its debates, is trespassing and allows others to trespass via him.
2) The coat, with its tight waistline and the position of the arms creates an almost female silhouette. The hat and the jawline and the short hair create a male silhouette. Our eyes tend to move back to the face, looking for resolution to this visual dialogue, but the face is illuminated in a way that does not allow for an answer but at the same time transcends the male-female question.
3) It is dawn in this picture.
Perhaps the dawn of a post-gay era, which Adam is standing for.
4) But the process is not complete. Neither is the Trespassing itself complete, nor is Adam yet complete. ==> Missing lines in the lettering.
5) Adam's career is based on his vocals. Those are created by mouth and nose, exactly those parts the sun is hiding from us. It creates of course a desire to see that nose and that mouth and hopefully to also hear what normally comes from them.
Lee Cherry is truly the best when it comes to Adam.
Just some ideas jotted down to kick the ball that Kamar started a bit further. Who is next?
