Let me just say how much I enjoyed reading through yesterday's thread, it was full of delight. The overall theme was one of amazement and happiness and enjoyment of the colorful spectacle that we were privy to, courtesy of youtube. So, thank you to all who have contributed and given and still give those of us who could not be here real time a chance to participate in the celebration. I think, just as we sometimes need to stop beating up on Adam or somebody else, I feel we also need to stop beating up on those who actually do the writing and posting here. So, wanna say a big time THANK YOU to all those who spend their time, collecting goodies, posting, formatting, editing, commenting, interpreting and flailing for all our benefit. The actual concert or the pieces we have had a chance to witness, leave me in utter amazement at what vision Adam is pulling together here. His clear reverence to Bowie, blue suit in the beginning, flash on back, fame, the dance style, the whole bight color 80's vibe with big hair and broad shoulders and wavy feel and storytelling by using the various musical influences of the 80s and interpreting that whole style in a modern and uniquely and meaningful way, Adam's way. His concert is one that sends you home not only with imagery and music in your ears, but with a message, be it personal or political or cultural. He knows how to balance fun and seriousness, he firmly plants himself visually and sonically where he wants to be and takes us all along for the journey. He had this vision all along. It must have been with him all the way through the creation of the songs on his Trespassing album, it shows in the selection of style and material and he is now bringing it to life in what surely will be his next tour. What a wonderful day to be an AFL fan!

Reading a thread after a concert reminds me of televised football. There are times when I am watching and the "color commentators" say things that are "duh-worthy." "That pass was just plain overthrown. If the receiver had been five steps faster, he would have had it for the first down." Uh, yeah. This is teleVISION, not radio. We saw that, thank you very much.
There are other times that I want to watch the instant replay and slo-mo to see exactly what happened. Was his foot in bounds when he caught the ball? Let's see. And times I want the commentator to explain how that pass pattern was run to evade the defenders. I appreciate the additional viewings, the alternate camera shots, the frame by frame analysis of a play. I get a greater understanding of all that is involved and a greater appreciation for what the players are able to do.
Then, after the game is over, they have commentators review and comment on the game again. Pointing out what worked and what didn't. Who was "off their game" and who excelled. Some folks enjoy these post-game shows, and some never watch them. They saw the game. That is enough.
Then, on Sunday nights there is often another show that reviews all the games for the week and makes further comment on them.
Are you familiar with the idiom, "Monday morning quarterbacking?" Before we had all the technology for sports that we now have, the quarterback called all the plays for the games which were on Saturday and Sunday. Then, on Monday, at work or at happy hour, football fans would discuss the games and pronounce what the quarterback SHOULD have done in different situations. "Third and three he never should have tried a quarterback sneak. Too long. He should have passed it off to Smithy. He would have made first down easily."
It's all part of the enjoyment of the game. Some only watch the game live, some on the TV, and some watch every commentary after the game. Different strokes for different folks, but, everyone is a fan!

Just wanted to say, I'm feeling what you're saying, Skylar.
Unlike a lot of other singers whose songs I really love and enjoy, too - in a different way - when Adam sings and performs, to me, there's just always a ring of truth (sometimes, there's like a sonic boom of truth).
And then you add to that the degree to which he comes across as such a damn interesting, sharp, funny, insightful and "stand-up" sort of person . . . well, that's a lot going on, isn't it?
