The problem, if that's what it is, comes during a night like the Cape Town show, when the excitement level is so high and we're seeing amazing tweets from people at the show, new outfits, new songs, etc... but then as the videos trickle in, after a brief initial flail, the posts start to point out the flaws "...oh, he was flat here, here and here" "the VJJ's are too loud. They need to go" etc... and it kind of takes the wind out of the sails for some of us. I am not saying it's wrong to posts those things, I'm just saying trying to explain why there is sometimes conflict over it. I just don't get why it takes the wind out of anyone's sails, it's not like anyone needs the techies' permission to flail the bejesus out of a thread if that's how they're feeling. Everyone should post what they want (within the rules :-[) and "fuq da police" 8-)

I'm always amazed of the depth of music knowledge that some of our posters, have. I think Cassie, in particular is very generous to share her expertise with us and I don't know of anyone who thinks she should stop posting about Adam, his voice and critiquing performances on a technical level. It's a great resource here at Atop and is one of things that makes this place special. The problem, if that's what it is, comes during a night like the Cape Town show, when the excitement level is so high and we're seeing amazing tweets from people at the show, new outfits, new songs, etc... but then as the videos trickle in you, after a brief initial flail, the posts start to point out the flaws "...oh, he was flat here, here and here" "the VJJ's are too loud. They need to go" etc... and it kind of takes the wind out of the sails for some of us. I am not saying it's wrong to posts those things, I'm just saying trying to explain why there is sometimes conflict over it. I get the feeling that many of us process things differently. Some like to look at each component of the show and analyze and discuss right away. I think these are detail people who enjoy delving in like that. Others, and I fall into this group, like to look at the whole thing before we make a call and, I admit, probably miss some of the small details, good and bad, along the way. No style is wrong but I think they can be at odds sometimes. kathleen, I think you really hit the nail on the head! For me, it really takes the wind out of the sails of the flailing. Quite frankly, if I had to analyze every note of artists' concerts I went to, I would have to stop going. It would completely ruin them for me. But that's me and maybe I am weird. :-/ We're both weird then But I do understand that some people can't unhear a bad note and many times they're just trying to share their impressions and not take away from our enjoyment. Unfortunately, for me, I can't tune out the critique and it lessens my overall enjoyment on the concert day threads. It is what it is, I guess :-/.

And Adam's body rolls, hip rolls, rib cage isolations, pelvic movement, etc would be the envy of any belly dancer!!! I remember this movement he did, at that place in Fever where he improvises, at one of the early European GNT concerts had me practicing till I could do it - rib cage slide, horizontal rib cage circle, followed by downward body undulation - so cool!!!
Do I sense another dancer here on the board, dancygeorgia? Of course, I mean, your atop name is a dead giveaway.
I took belly dancing for years and you're absolutely spot on about Adam would be the envy of any belly dancer! Adam is a natural dancer, very in tune with his body movements and being a particularly sensual being that just makes everything seem ever so effortless and fluid, but he did have formal training in his younger days (can't remember in which interview he'd mentioned before) and it's quite evident in this youtube of "Dancing Thru Life --- Wicked".
dancygeorgia, do you do other types of dance as well?

It's all good, whatever floats your boat, I say. Let's just all get along and enjoy the FIERCE BITCH AFL.

dancygeorgia, do you do other types of dance as well? Yes, I also do ballroom dancing, International Standard, International Latin and American Rhythm. And we have a local belly dance troupe that performs at charity events, festivals, nursing homes, etc. Women of all ages & sizes - we have lots of fun dressing up!

Trying to explain how others might feel is not telling someone what they can or can't post. That night, as soon as I saw what I considered negative posts, I immediately switched to the end of the thread and worked backwards. I knew that things wold even out after more pages. But some people get sad and want to leave. As long as guidlines are followed, it is what it is. :-[

I merely answered to someone who specifically asked about the vocals in Underneath, and it kinda snowballed from that. Next time, I think it would be good to direct whoever asks about the vocals to the Vocal Masterclass thread, and then everyone can be happy.
