Adam Lambert - GlamNation Tattoo Comission/Design  ₍₂₀₁₄₎

Artist's Comment :

Well, a fellow Glambert asked me a really big favour.
She had been searching for someone to design her a tattoo of
our very handsome Adam's Glamnation top hat, so I kindly agreed to do it for her.
Here's the result....can't wait to see it done!

Frozen Adam:   'Let It Go'



Arist's Comment :

This took me a month to get around to finishing!! I'm super annoyed with this drawing (because it was so much work), but also super happy with it. Somewhere between watching 'Frozen' much later than everyone else and now, I became obsessed with the movie as well as 'Let It Go', and I just had to cross it with my other great love, Adam Lambert. Here are four scenes depicting Adam's transformation into the Ice King as he sings. Made entirely in Adobe Photoshop with my trusty tablet. Hope you like it!

"Let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore"

Artist's Comments :
Adam's just only realizing that he can basically do what he likes with his powers and his life, and he's still a little nervous about cutting loose, so there's not much going on here visually (but those snowflakes are real pretty!). I spent a lot of time on the costume design more than anything else here - I wanted to try and stay faithful to the original design on Elsa, but make it suitable for a King of that time period to wear (also, it had to convincingly into the Ice King outfit, which I did first in 'Frozen Kradam'). I wanted to put a sash on him, but didn't want to obscure the pattern. I'm not so sure about the crown now, but it's not like all Kings have to wear a block of iron on their heads... Ultimately, I didn't want the coronation outfit to suit Adam. He can't really look bad in anything, but I wanted a look that wasn't his style, which he only wore because he had to. The hair is heavily inspired by the Fiasco mag photoshoot.

 'The cold never bothered me anyway'

Artist's Comment :
Since I'd limited myself to four transitional panels, I decided to combine his tossing
the cape and throwing away the crown into one panel. I call this the "can't give a
*bleep* anymore" picture. He tossed the glove somewhere between Pictures 1 and
2. He most certainly summoned the winter wind to conveniently get rid of his royal
trappings. The line art for this took some fixing, until I was satisfied with his
expression and pose. He had to look like he was turning his back on his regimented
former life without any regrets, and maybe even be a little smug about it, because at
this point, he's pretty much finished with the rest of mankind. At least, that's what I
hope I managed to depict! This was where the real fun began for me as an artist.

'That perfect boy is gone'


Artist's Comment :

My personal favourite. Just like Katniss's wedding gown burning away to reveal the mockingjay outfit. It was a little challenging to illustrate a convincing transition between the different costumes without going "glitter engulfed Adam and he emerged in a vastly different outfit", but ultimately a lot of fun. I know one shouldn't apply too much logic when dealing in Disney fairy tale/Glam God crossovers, but it makes me feel better. I thought of it as frost spreading through the thick fabric, turning it into a light, frost-touched material that may or not be actual cloth, and into something 'more Adam'. Everything else was taken care of by the convenient transformative glitter first seen at work in Disney's 'Cinderella'. This is where most of the lines of the original sketch were erased entirely to give the costume an ethereal look. I really loved putting in the glitter and experimenting with the growing walls of the ice palace! And it was a great excuse to draw another "classic Adam singing pose" - it's like the most fun you can have with an Adam drawing without seeing his eyes.
