Wednesday - Check In DayOh no, it's that time again. Where are we? At the end of our third week? Now I really wish my hubby hadn't brought home that rich vanilla shake (without asking thank you very much, ;-|). I did only eat about a third of it but a moment on the lips is a lifetime on the hips. Darn it. And I've been pretty good for most of the week and down several pounds. We'll see what the scales say in the morning.

I did pretty well on my goal of eating healthier. I pretty much finished up my box of farm produce and am signed up to get another box tomorrow. I ate the rest of the grapefruit, and my rabbit finished up the lettuce after it got a little wilted for me. He also liked the turnip tops. I made the turnips into a casserole and they were actually quite mild and good. My first time to eat turnips and I was pleasantly surprised. They tasted sort of like water chestnuts. The only failure I had was the butternut squash. Again this was my first time with this veggie. I was surprised when I opened them and found them to be like a pumpkin with seeds and strings inside. I put slices in a baking dish with salt, pepper, and a little butter and baked them, but they were very bland and not very good. If anyone has any good butternut squash recipes let me know. I can't wait to see what's in the new box of stuff. The only thing I have left from the old one is about 1/2 head of cabbage, so I did pretty well eating the stuff up. Exercise was not so great. I was sick pretty much all week with an upper respiratory crud and I'm still coughing. I only got in 3x of exercise instead of my goal of 5x. This week I am on track though and may try to throw in an extra time to try to make up for missing last week. If I have time to figure out the smoothie thing I might try that for breakfast a time or two.

Checking in.... Lost about another couple of pounds (scale is old and a bit hard to read, but I can see the trend is downwards) even though I wasn't 100% good. Exercise still an issue because of my ankle.
I'm Dutch originally, and in the Netherlands a well known winter dish is cooked kale mixed with cooked potatoes that you mash (but do not add milk/cream/butter to) and with a specific kind of dutch sausage added. It's really good, real "comfort" food. Probably not low calories, the sausage definitely is not, but you could always replace that with something else, and use more kale than potatoes.

Realised I forgot to check in last two Wednesdays :( Was out of the net for a while and then RL... Can't say I have real progress. I managed to loose about three kilos last year and that's all, can't go forward >:D I do very little exercises, but I walk constantly. Lucky me, most of my destinations are within reasonable walking distance and especially now, during winter, it's quite an exercise - trot through the deep snow. I'm reading these great juicy/smoothy recipes and my contribution: I found it originally in the 'Women's health' magazine and improved it. Banana smoothy - I freeze skinless banana, put it into blender with half the cup of a cold water, then add some nuts or honey, cinnamon and in the end have smoothy that resemble milkshake, though much healthier, nutritional and tasty. I use it as a quick snack.
