ok, I'm in. (thanks for the nudge, jablea!)
I'm aiming to drop 10 lbs. Strategy: eat healthy plus exercise 30 min every day.

Last year being part of the Atopers shape-up team did help me to realize my goal of losing 10 pounds..more like 12. I had been working out and even with a trainer and my clothes were just getting tighter....so I really needed to change my eating habits to smaller portions. That did make the difference, and I continued to eat healthy, but not "perfectly"...and luckily kept the weight off. In the last month I have put on 4 pounds again...which I know it not a lot...but I have not been regularly exercising for several months... like I need to be doing to keep toned. I will set my goal at 5 pounds as I do not want to have to get a new wardrobe. My things fit and I had alterations on good clothes, added pieces and gave away things not important or not worth the price to adjust. I still kept good things that are one size up ...you never know!! :-/ :-/ I like clothes and last year I just wanted to better fit into the clothes I had and actually dropped a size. I know muscle weighs more than fat ..so once I get myself off the couch I know that to actually lose the four pounds I will have to be more careful re my diet. My weight usually goes up a bit with exercising then it settles into loss once I really get going. Just harder to get really into hard exercising when the aging process takes its toll with knees/back (from too much exercising before). HAHA Enough of my ramblings...see you on the thread next week! The hardest part is to start, and get moving. Good Luck everyone!

Checking in to say the scale did not have good news for me this morning but at least I weighed myself! My goal is to lose 8 pounds. I'm short so 8 pounds really matters. Portion control is going to be my main technique and being cognizant of calories too. I've never tried logging what I eat but since I've had such a hard time losing weight in the last few years I may have to resort to that. Good luck everyone!

Hi! Happy New Year! Great to meet you all here again Thank you Jablea for the invite! I'm back and hope to achieve much more than last year (I quit half-way, unfortunately). I won't put my goal in kilos ;D - don't want to limit myself. Though I want to state my first goal - to quit eat at night (the main problem now) plus to make my exercises more effective. It'll be quite difficult because we have half dozen birthdays in January (family and friends, not mention Adam ) and it's usually the late evening parties I hope you'll give me moral support ???

I'MBACKjablea - thanks for giving me a poke I really enjoyed being a part of this group last year ... there were so many reasons to come back every week ...the camaraderie, the laughter, the fantastic tips both on diet and exercise, the motivation etc.... and of course the universal purpose of losing weight and gaining fitness. For me it was a total win all round : MY Goal: 10K ----- TOTAL LOSS: 9.35K (converter says 20.6lbs) and I have kept the weight off to date \O/ ... YAY So for this next session (10 weeks) I have set my GOAL as 4.5kilos = 9.9 lbs

Hi Everyone!
I do not post much, but please count me in.
RL is truly the pits for me right now, and I am going to need to be fit and nimble - that's a joke at my age! Still, I will give it my best shot and aim for 20lbs.
Good luck all.

Liquid
I have to start every year off with the water reminder. I’ve generally been getting 2 to 3 cups a day with my vitamins by adding a packet of what they call “EcoDrink”. I get it at Costco. A bit pricy but half a packet (probably a teaspoon) flavors a lot of water and covers up the bitter taste of my MSM flakes.
I’m going to try and drink both my 2 cup water bottle with the vitamins plus a 3 cup water bottle daily. Arrgh, yeah Arrgh but I’m going to do it.
And yay!!!!!!! Runs around like a chicken with head cut off….!!!!!! So glad to have so many back again and some newbies too! Welcome! Welcome!
For newbies. You decide your goals whether it’s amount lost, miles walked, clothing sizes, healthy meals cooked. You name it. We want everyone to be healthier and that means different things to different people. And then at least once a week you post and tell us how you did. It’s like a cyber weightwatchers meeting.
I always get a lot out of these threads too and of course I want to run back and look over the last couple of years because I also forget so much. One thing I think I remember from the first year was that we discussed and I started buying on an occasional basis, the green leafy lettuce/veggie known as kale, long before we saw pictures of a certain celebrity at whole foods.
