The Les Miz story is really making rounds, every site, blog, news collecting site etc quotes from Popcrush, Eonline, NBC, ABC, even PH. To me it looks like Adam's opinion counts - and being controversial it gets noticed. Now people are talking about it. Some agree and some don't. Even those who disagree but are interested enough to voice their opinion will IMO pay attention to Adam in the future too. They might even listen to some of his songs - and at least read what he has to say next time. His name is out there in a big way.

Lovely, lol. Personally, I hate that he dissed these other artists so publically, but he doesn't seem to mind the backlash...so whatever. (Please tell me, though, that he didn't audition for this movie at some point...)

I like Hugh Jackman, but I think the part of Jean Valjean was above his singing abilities. I was so disappointed with this song in the movie for it was my favorite from the show. You can compare Hugh to this YouTube and see what you think. I hope someday Adam will sing this. Brilliant, just brilliant rendition!! Standing O indeed... [/IMG] [/IMG] I haven't seen Les Miserables, so no comments. Thanks, Lifeisnow2!
Gorgeous... I think Adam was upset, because singers like the above are never asked to be in a Hollywood musical.HW goes for popularity of actor rather than great voices. I don't blame Adam..Thanks for posting this.. What an astounding performance. Hugh Jackman ruined the song . Adam held a mirror up to HW and their bottom line Quantity rather than Quality. The singing in the movie left me furious.. Just sayin. Of course now everyone will go see the movie to prove Adam wrong. He just angered the movie industry... Bottom dollar.. they actually owe Adam for the PR.

Guess yall already talked about this, but Hugh Jackman is an opera singer. I haven't seen the movie, so can't comment other than that. The first time I heard Anne Hathaway sing was when she was hosting an awards show, maybe the Oscars a couple of years ago, I didn't even know she could sing. I am always amazed by the actors who do have good singing voices as well. I've know Jackman as a musical theater singer, but I'm not seeing anything about opera as a glance through a couple bios. Can you tell us more.
I think an unusual thing about Adam's critique is that people in the business do not usually diss other people in the business. They leave that to the critiques. There is a risk that goes with expressing a negative opinion (one he seems to accept) in that people will say "sour grapes," etc. Going back to your post holst... I was surprised that he would post such a public statement especially as he is so supportive and positive...wondering why ?

Wow, the show is over and photos coming in...I'll have to catch up. Sometimes I wish Adam's press was about his appearances all over the world. I agree that Adam speaks his mind and I applaud him for that. But not one mention that he was in Bali performing... :-/ Or that he has a huge schedule of international appearances. But the media runs on fodder, so no surprise this is going viral. I'm torn about this one. Kinda wish he had left Les Mis alone right now. Que sera... So, as Adam changes the subject...how was the show??? Any clues where I should start reading?? Thanks! Seriously, it is this way for EVERY celebrity. Lady Gaga has been on a worldwide tour and doing fabulous, but you didn't hear a thing about her in the press until she gained a few pounds. Madonna is on the most successful tour of the year and when is she in the press? When she's late, when she tells off the audience or she says something controversial. In the same way that artists don't get news cycles for doing their own music, they get news cycles for doing covers. It's just how it works. Bad, good or indifferent. Back in the Idol days Brian Mansfield said, "Controversy sells." It's true. The "Les Mis" peeps are probably loving this as well. It will keep people talking about the film long after opening weekend and brings the actor/singer vs. singer/actor debate to the fore. I'm sure many professional singers and theater performers will have a lot of thoughts on the issue. I agree with mys*&@^#r. I'll worry when they don't want to talk about him.

I wonder if he or someone in his circle auditioned for this. He is such a nice person, and so new to the business. I just don't want to see him burn any potential bridges.
