I doubt the reference is about Adam, It better not be.Adam was never a reject.. He made American Idol. IMHO,he's the best thing that has happened for gay artists.. world recognition. Adam has made being gay sexy and acceptable.But of course again preaching to the choir. LOL  Smiles to my teacher. Of course he is referring to Adam. There will always be those people who will never accept Adam because he came from American Idol. The AI stigma is alive and well (and this probably especially true for someone into indie) Plenty of American Idol contestants from winners to also rans have performed at Pride festivals all across the country. This was one reason that it seemed odd that Adam was not doing Pride festivals. Since the article is complaining about NOT booking actual LGBTQ performers I doubt seriously the idol comment refers to Adam. |

A comment following this article--don't know if it is referring to Adam: "Totally agreed, Eric. The biggest reason I go to Pride festivals is to see indie LGBT bands take the stage. I think that comment is more likely about straight American Idol contestants who perform at Gay Pride events -- vs. Adam who is gay -- examples: Anthony Fedorov (not gay) and Blake Lewis (not gay) have done Pride events. Adam was actually criticized for not doing any Pride events. I think 19 Management and Sony/RCA did not want him "classified" as a gay artist. |
