May the tea leaf reading continue:
The moderator over on AO has stepped into the debate: Here is the thread, for those who want to see all, I'll just bring over the part that the moderator posted:
www.adamofficial.com/us/node/2247151In his post he denounces secondary posts on MJ and others as rumors, but otherwise leaves major important points open. He does not comment on the SH article, other than re-iterating that RCA has not commented. He then tries to reign in the rumor mill, and threatens to delete discussions that are not based on solidified information. He can do that on AO, but obviously not on twitter or this site or any other, so I am not sure how effective this will be across the fandom.
Here is what he posted:
"New rumou is Adam well be parting ways with Rca due to
creative differences, read that Mj's dont kno how reliable they are.
This is all not true hopefully."
Really, 3ku1? MJs? Well, we'll all take THAT to the bank, now won't we?
"Apparently, his label would like an all covers album."
Really, Bippin and Blossom? Funny, I could have sworn the article said,
"RCA Records would not comment",
which could easily translate into no one actually being reached for
comment, which is more likely. Either way, there is no "apparently"
about it.
But ok, if the article says "according to sources" (notice no mention of
those sources being connected to Adam or his management/label) I guess
it must be true.
Later, the article cites "label sources" concerning support for Trespassing. I wonder which mail room clerk that was.
Point being, here on the AO forum it's fine to discuss what you would
think of an all covers album, or anything else an article brings up as a
maybe for the next album, or whether Adam will be an Idol judge, etc.
But when that discussion becomes an assumption of truth based on
"sources" it's rumor mongering.
And when posts go into the territory of publicly throwing around
accusations against label/management or anyone else in Adam's camp (or
Adam himself), based on some article citing unnamed "sources" concerning
the who, what, how, why of the decision making process behind the
music, which no one here has the slightest knowledge of
(nor likely does any gossip columnist), then it's crossing a line into
assuming that unsubstantiated rumor has any resemblance to facts, and is
also rumor mongering.
This is the kind of thing that used to drive RCA-Ed up the wall. I SO
get why. And some of you from way back then are STILL doing it.
Any post containing such language will be deleted. (You've got five
minutes to delete them from your posts, or the whole post goes poof)
That includes these kinds of comments in other threads as well.
"Decided to remove my ramblings and wait to see if Adam himself has anything to say about it. If not, then it means nothing."
Good move, AE. If it doesn't come from the horse's mouth - Adam or his people - it's rumor.
From AO guidelines:
4. Please refrain from spreading rumors. If you did not receive
the information you are posting from a credible source, please do not
post it. Administrators reserve the right to delete any posts they
believe to contain false information.
End of quote.
Make of it what you want. For me it does not either add or subtract anything from what the SH article already did for me.
Which basically was to re-assess my expectations for A3. I still think that it will be a great album to listen to, I just am not optimistic anymore that Adam will shine as a song-writer on it. That is all.
Nothing what this RCA-Mod has said has changed anything for me, really.
