July 9, 2013 3:29 pm By Jeff Cucinell Glamberts get ready: You may be introduced to ’80s music in a whole new way. According to information gathered by The Hollywood Reporter, Adam Lambert may be following up his 2012 album Trespassing with an all-1980s covers compilation. The 31-year old American Idol runner-up has already showed his strength in singing classics from that decade as his performance of the 1982 Tears for Fears song, “Mad World,” is still considered one of the best performances ever on Idol. Apparently, Adam’s record label, RCA, is pushing for a covers album since his sophomore album sold only 185,000, copies, about one-fifth of his debut record For Your Entertainment. If Adam were to make an all ’80s album, here are a few songs that we think would suit him well (excluding “Mad World,” which he should sing all the time.) 1) Livin’ on a Prayer – Bon Jovi (Slippery When Wet, 1986)
2) P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing) – Michael Jackson (Thriller, 1982)
3) Don’t You Want Me – Human League (Dare, 1981)
4) Love is a Battlefield – Pat Benatar (Live From Earth, 1983)
5) Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey (Escape, 1981)
Any ’80s classics you’d like to see Adam cover?
Ugh. Just no. What a terrible list. Most of these songs (except "Don't You Want Me") have been done multiple times on American Idol. Adam even sang "Don't Stop Believin'" as part of a group number on an episode of Idol, as well as on the Idol tour. And PYT was one of Gokey's signature songs (he sang it on the show and on the Idol tour). The author of this article might as well have thrown in "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing" while he was at it! If Adam wanted to tie his image to Idol even tighter, this would be the way to do it. Do Not Want. :(

It looks like he pulled this list from a karaoke machine.

I'd guess, if Adam did do an 80's cover album, he'd choose B-sides and songs we'd never even think of.

just ugh Ryan Seacrest, naming songs sung on the AI tour or show.. ugh!!! maybe we will all be so disgusted that we will be relieved to hear better news. A covers album would certainly fill the time gap and speed A3 but I can't think 'singer/songwriter' would be thrilled about this different kind of artistry. who knows....

I'd guess, if Adam did do an 80's cover album, he'd choose B-sides and songs we'd never even think of. And sing the songs in ways we never thought of like he did with If I Can't Have You.
