Shortly after Adam tweeted “Rakastan!!!”, it trended worldwide.

Why is Rakastan popular right now?

Rakastan!!! was a one word tweet sent by rock/pop star Adam Lambert on 10th April 2011. It means 'I love' in Finnish. Adam is dating Sauli Koskinen who is from Finland. Sauli won Finnish Big Brother in 2007.

Last Thursday night Logo celebrated its big, fun, fancy, silly NewNowNext Awards at The Avalon in Hollywood (broadcast tonight on Logo at 10pm ET/9PM Central), and in addition to serving up some sassy awards to some pretty fabulous folks, the event was a great big party. James Van Der Beek hosted.

The show featured blistering kickass musical performances by Robyn (she was introduced by ADAM LAMBERT and debuted a new song “Call Your Girlfriend!”), Wynter Gordon, Oh Land and Panic! at the Disco, and some other hot onstage moments by the stunning Joe Manganiello from True Blood, Paula Abdul, Perez Hilton, and tons more… Lady Gaga accepted her “Always New, Forever Now” award remotely, as did Glee hottie Darren Criss (who won “Brink of Fame Actor”) but the best revelation of the night…THE ANGRY BIRDS ARE GAY!!!

ADAM: I just might. You might see me sitting with somebody. Later.

MICHELLE: Is he here?

ADAM: Yeah.

MICHELLE: That’s so exciting. He’s so cute.

ADAM: Yeah he is.

MICHELLE: Oh that’s so cute! Is he from Finland? Where is he from?

ADAM: Yes.

MICHELLE: Now you know, I love the Finnish. Is he a good slalomer?

ADAM: I’m not answering that either. [laugh] That is another [laugh]....again, what do you think?

MICHELLE: They are very good. [laughter] The winter Olympics...

ADAM: Totally.

MICHELLE: OMG that is so hilarious. You know I am going on Urban dictionary once this is over and going like Slalom. It’s like teabagging in the snow. I wonder---oh, that’s what that is. Good to know.

ADAM: It’s like Frozen Sploshing. [laugh]

MICHELLE: Is that a thing too? Wait a minute, I’m honestly like a virgin I have no idea what you are talking out. I’m like “sploshing”?

ADAM: Neither have I. Me too.

MICHELLE: Oh lord…..

The song became a Internation #1 hit in 1990 for Sinéad O'Connor – proving that sometimes it is not just having the right song – it is the right artist having the right song at the right time. And 4 me, nothing compares 2 Sinéad O'Connor performing “Nothing Compares 2 U” – at least until the GlamMaster sings it.

Good Morning ! Had to run through yesterday's thread pretty quickly because I'm having a very busy work day starting early.

I see you all have now learnt at least one Finnish word . Rakastan is just I love - without what you love so kinda incomplete sentence.

Somebody asked about Finns using word love sparingly - that is true. We use word "like" (pidän, tykkään) until the real love (rakkaus) hits us. We are maybe odd, but it is a very strong word used with a real commitment (minä rakastan sinua - I love you)- at least at the time. And that goes this way when we are talking Finnish.

When talking in English it is easier just to follow the flow of using a lot the word love like you all do - because it just doesn't mean as much in English (to us) than the Finnish word rakastan would. I can easily say I love Adam Lambert, but I can't say that minä rakastan Adam Lambertia - 'cause minä pidän Adam Lambertista. *shrug*
What can I say... Finns are... Finns?

Oh forgot to say.... it really has been educational to be on board here - I mean, I didn't even know before the rusty umbrella that Urban Dictionary even existed :D.

Cristal Snow's tweet was on the earlier thread - he knows Sauli pretty well. He runs Jenny Woo. He is a singer, and Sauli is on one of his music videos too.
