There are only 3 things I would like from PF. 1) The FS thread 2) The Gridlock thread 3) Halfie's essays. Why not just contact Halfie for his essays? I'm sure he has saved copies. --- It's weird that today is the day that the subject of moving boards has come up. It's already a sad day for me. The board I have been on for ELEVEN YEARS has closed down. We have scattered. Some went to a paid subscription board, a number of the guys went to a gay site (where I have been invited but am hesitant to follow), and some will probably just disappear. When that amount of time has passed, even the people you like less than others are still part of the community. It is such an empty feeling for me today. The site was there this morning and now it is completely gone. :(

I'm pretty sure she means she might put the blog part back up, but I don't expect to ever see the old forum again. Frankly, I've moved on. Glad you guys are staying. I didn't get to Planet Fierce until right after the shut down. I kept checking back, but no dice. Now that I've found you ex-PF'ers here, I hope you don't go back. It's so comfy here. :-/ Naw, I'm not moving! I HATE moving, I'm staying put

I only discovered Planet Fierce a couple of months before it was discontinued, so I do not have the sense of loss of thousands of posts, many shared laughs and tears, angst, joy, wisdom, insight, craziness, and love. But, here is my take on the issue. 1. PF was a precious gift shared by wonderful people. Some gifts last a lifetime. Others are perishable, and fade away quickly. Others die a slow, withering death. Can we just celebrate the gift that was given? Can we just be grateful for the giver and the fellow participants? If some of it can be resurrected, all the better. 2. Setting up a forum online is not meant to be a life's work. It is not meant to be an onus to be shouldered no matter the other demands in life. It certainly is not meant to cause the creators legal problems that could result in law suits. If Rowe felt overwhelmed, overburdened or threatened by the idea of a law suit, I can understand her pulling the plug. While I wish there were some way that she could have handed over the reins, it seems that her lawyers advised her to shut down. She may have intended to purge any legally precarious content and resume, but it was too much to handle. Sometimes the best choice is to dust yourself off, pick yourself up, and head in a new direction. She is NOT responsible to the forum forever, or even to all the people who lived there. Just like if I neglect to back up my files on my computer and the lightning outside (right now) fries my computer, I must take responsibility for my loss. (Note to self: don't depend on ATop to archive things that are precious to me. And get that extra duty surge protector and external hard drive.) 3. We have the power to create our own communities and establish and maintain our own connections. Thanks to Q3 for initiating Adamtopia. I am deeply grateful. I also believe that if she had not taken up the challenge, someone else would have created this community. We all value one another, and find ways to connect. That is absolutely amazing to me. 4. I say, let's be happy that we found Adam, before, during or after AI8. Let's be grateful that something on the internet led us to MJs or PF or ATop and that we found beautiful friends. Let's concentrate on looking forward to more Adam goodness and light --- and a fierce roller coaster ride. Thanks to Rowe for her contribution to PF. Thanks to Q3 for our present home. Thanks to all who contribute here. Thanks to whatever future Adam-centric home we find. Now, ADAM, how about just one new photo? One new hairstyle? One clever tweet? One hint about what's going on in the studio? One new interview? The natives are getting restless and you don't know how much mayhem we can get into if we are bored.

Pat Ryder says:04/15/2011 at 8:12 pm Since I went through the trouble of trademarking the name... The thing I was sad about when Planet Fierce was shut down was we lost the name. I feel that "Planet Fierce" belongs to all of Adam's fans since it was a joke between Adam & Neil that we adopted. I didn't know that Pat trade marked the name. :( Other then losing the name Planet Fierce it's the people that contribute to Adam's community that makes Adamtopia special. It's where I come to share things about Adam. No matter what time of the day there is most likely someone some where in the world that is here. We have people all over the globe that share things about Adam with the rest of us.

Just a fly-by post after a lightning-fast scan... Well, I loved PF and it has a lot of good memories. I learned so much, and made so many friendships. When it changed, near the end, I was really sad. When the site went away, I was even sadder. And I realized that what I missed wasn't the news, or the links, or the pictures. I could find those elsewhere. I missed the people, and the community, and the sense of shared experience. Thank goodness for Q3 who whipped up a new site and made a place for us, reflecting her own personality and vision. Remember how flaily and anxious we all were in the early days of ATop? So many ~feelings of loss and reaction to change. It was really hard. But after a while, it began to feel like home, and we had that sense of community again. It's funny, when the Proforums site got wonky and crashed, and Q3 moved us here, how relatively calm we all were about it. That says a lot about the level of trust we have-- that the location may change, but the community remains. Home is where the heart is! (Now I've got to finish work so I can get ready for the Scissors Sisters concert I'm going to tonight, with a couple of other Atopians :D ) You said it so perfectly!!!! Ditto ;D
