Just had to comment, as many others have done, that the depth of Adam's emotional interpretation amazes me. I think he ranks up there with Bette Midler and Judy Garland (you all know how I love those belters). Joni Mitchell also. And Rihanna when she sings Stay.
I'm sure there are male examples also, and no disrespect to the male singers you may love, but IMO Adam blows them away in my mind and I can't think of any others right now.
Anywayy, an illustration. I think one of the reasons that he is blowing everyone away is that ability to fully inhabit a song, fully interpret and live in what the song means. The tone, the tenor of a song. What a great concert that makes, it is almost like hearing many singers, but they are all Adam. His involvement in the song allows the audience to join in fully. And all that talent, those looks, those moves, the joy he brings, the breaking of the fourth wall, damn damn damn, what an entertainer. oh yes, and a little band called QUEEN!!! A concert for the ages.
Like the, to me, mind-blowing awesomeness and difference in these two songs. I have to say, I just love this boy who can rock my world.
And can I just say, to all those who knew about and loved Save Me? What an absolute joy it must be to hear Adam sing it. I wasn't familiar with that song, but after multitudinous repeat plays, I sure am now! Stupendous, simply beautiful. That last note? Surely that is what the angels sound like.

I got a great question from abriton about how Adam maintains his voice throughout this long, grueling tour. I replied in the vocal masterclass thread. If you are interested, check it out. Thanks for the question, abriton. adamtopia.com/post/575329/threadThanks Cassie, I too worry about his voice, it's too beautiful to be damaged. It can't be easy with his constant motion on stage. I seem to recall some Queen fans who called him wooden? Any more motion and he'd be doing jumping jacks! As an aside, I wonder if he has a personal makeup and hair artist with him? He's very groomed and his hair was immaculate in the Leeds videos I just watched.

A great voice and great technique is not enough. I need it to be in service to the meaning and emotion of the song.

Thanks for the question, abriton. adamtopia.com/post/575329/threadThanks for your enlightening and thorough explanation. When I used to teach, I'd be voice challenged about the 2nd week of school. To go from summer regular talking to talking 5 hrs a day while being "present" and "projecting" was laryngitis-inducing for me. In school, no time for breaks to hydrate or even go to the bathroom--hall duty you know. Teachers were not allowed beverages in classrooms then--70's-early 90's. I still can go 8hrs without drinking or the loo, much to the detriment of my body, let alone voice. Who knew I needed voice lessons! Thx again.

Red panda, I so totally agree. For me, it's one of the many reasons one show is never enough; in fact the last show one has seen is not enough. One needs subsequent shows to savor the emotions he expresses. Can you imagine the excruciating similarity of Save Me without Adam turning it inside out and upside down--tender/pleading to angry/demanding, to almost a lament on the last "farrrrrrr from home."
Also, I'd like to add that sense of timing and element of surprise he adds no matter how many times he sings a song. His creative spirit just erupts from his entire body/being (thx Bridgey/birthday girl for the observation to relook with full body intensity in mind). That's why superlatives don't seem enough to describe the range of emotions he shares and why once is not enough.
Another observation: Adam leading the sing alongs--he naturally uses his arms and facial expressions to become the choir director/circus ringmaster.

Perfect synopsis, love the "in service" part. Whole different level of the vocal arts, IMO. And cassie, thanks once again for the detailed explanation of maintaining the voice through many concerts. There was one concert a while back when I thought Adam's voice sounded off, and I sort of freaked out, thinking, "oh,no, his voice can't handle it." Turned out just to be the quality of the stream. I vowed then not to doubt his mastery of his instrument. This boy has got it, no worries. Every time you provide us with information about the techniques of singing, I admire all over again the work that has gone into Adam being able to sing that (to me) flawless note at the end of Save Me. He, in my opinion, deserves every accolade he is receiving, because he moves me, of course, but also because he has worked for it. He has just been so successful at his job that we who don't know about these things can only say we love his singing. But the true reason is because of his devotion to his craft. Those looks, those moves, would only last a short time if he hadn't worked on and developed and crafted that voice. Lucky for us, he has it all. Had not thought of it in this way, but I think you are absolutely correct. Each show has a bunch of new Adam creativity. I think he likes to keep it interesting for himself, and in doing so keeps it interesting for us. Plus he is just so darned comfortable up there on that stage. Lord knows if I had the money I would be following this tour all over Europe. And I know it would always be great. Hahaha, new slogan for Adam,
