Press Release: Queen + Adam Lambert Forced to Cancel Brussels Concert
Queen and Adam Lambert have this afternoon reluctantly been forced to announce the cancellation of their sold out Brussels concert scheduled to take place tonight, Sunday February 8 at Palais 12, Brussels.
The cancellation comes after doctors in Frankfurt, where Queen + Adam Lambert performed last night, this morning diagnosed Adam with severe bronchitis and have ordered 24 hour vocal and bed rest.
Unfortunately, due to unavailability of the venue, it not going to be possible to reschedule the show.
It is not expected that the rest of the Queen + Adam Lambert tour which ends in the UK February 27 will be affected.

Well, not quite, because before he tweeted that message, Adam performed a slightly abbreviated concert with Queen to a sold out audience in Frankfort, Germany. Hopefully, he feels better today as Q+AL heads off to Brussels.

Hamburg. "Moin Moin, Hamburg", grüßt Queen-Gitarrist Brian May nach einer Stunde Konzert die knapp 12.000 Fans am Donnerstag in der O2 World. Er muss mal auf die Bremse treten, zurück auf den Boden kommen. Denn der ergraute englische Wuschelkopf ist, obwohl Astrophysiker, eigentlich nicht so der abgehobene Typ, nicht mal bei seinem langen Solo. Gemütlich setzt er sich auf einen Hocker und singt mit dem Publikum und dem – zumindest auf der Videoleinwand – unsterblichen Freddie Mercury "Love Of My Life". Erst mal Luft holen.
Denn bis dahin sehen Brian May, Schlagzeuger Roger Taylor und ihre Tourmusiker (darunter Taylors Sohn Rufus Tiger) amüsiert dabei zu, wie der neue Sänger Adam Lambert alle Register einer Rock-Oper zieht. Der kräftige, nicht überall gut ausgesteuerte Auftakt mit "One Vision", "Stone Cold Crazy", "Another One Bites The Durst" und "Fat Bottomed Girls" ist die perfekte Grundlage, auf der sich Lambert, 2009 als Finalist der US-Castingshow "American Idol" bekannt geworden, richtig austoben kann.
Adam Lambert ist mit 33 Jahren halb so alt wie Brian May und Roger Taylor und ein echtes Showtalent. Seine Stimme ist variabel, sein Alabasterkörper sehr flexibel, sein Libidometer, so deuten das seine Hüftschwünge im knarzengen Lederdress an, oben im roten Bereich. Immer wieder schneidet er Grimassen, zieht sich um, verteilt mit dem Mund Schampus ins Publikum, badet in der Menge und räkelt sich bei "Seven Seas Of Rhye" lasziv auf einer Chaiselongue, sich aufgeregt Luft zufächelnd. Da kann May noch so sehr die Saiten seiner selbst gebauten, mit einer Münze bespielten "Red Special"-Gitarre verbiegen, da kann Taylor noch so grimmig seine Felle gerben, Lambert ist das dynamische Element dieser Show.
"I Want To Break Free", "Under Pressure", "Save Me", "Who Wants To Live Forever", "Tie Your Mother Down" und weitere Klassiker bestimmen diesen Greatest-Hits-Abend. Wenn man so will, lebt Queen vom Gestern, auch wenn 2008 noch das Album "The Cosmos Rocks" mit Paul Rodgers als Sänger erschien. Aber das macht nichts, denn "I Want It All", "Show Must Go On""Bohemian Rhapsody" oder "Radio Ga Ga" setzen einfach keinen Staub an. Die schillernde Pop-Diva Lady Gaga war übrigens auch vor einigen Jahren als Queen-Sängerin im Gespräch, aber Adam Lambert ist schon überkandidelt und extrovertiert genug – als hätte jemand die DNA von Freddie Mercury, George Michael und Robbie Williams neu verschraubt und in einen Sänger aus Indianapolis verpflanzt. Vielleicht übertreibt Lambert dann und wann, manchem Gast, so hört man im Bus, ist er als plakativ bekennender Homosexueller auch "zu tuckig". Egal, es macht Spaß, ihn zu beobachten.
Beim Finale nach fast 150 Minuten mit "We Will Rock You" und "We Are The Champions" grüßt Adam Lambert als Prinz aus Zamunda im Leopardendress mit Krone die Untertanen. "God Save The Queen" kommt vom Band, und das Saallicht geht an. Dabei könnte die Show in dieser sehenswerten Form gern noch weitergehen.
