Adam seemed to be the only one who actually knew any of the dance moves.

When Adam says, "Written for you, not me" it makes me think of WWFM! It was a song anyone could relate to, adults, teens, men, women, anyone. Who hasn't said or thought "Whataya want from me" to someone in their life? Great hook! I still hear people referencing it when they are being funny and singing to someone "Whatya want from me?!!!!!!!!" Perfect example of a great Max Martin song that suited Adam perfectly! Ahhh! thanks for saying that, it makes me feel better because honestly the "the record is for the audience, not myself" was kind of making me sad. I was thinking literally and I would hate to see him have music he did not connect to.

And too hard to sing along with. I think the ability to be able to sing at least part of the song is important for hits too. But Max knows all this! I am not nervous about anything at all!

I am very nervous for this new album. It sounds complex, it sounds like it's all over the place. Pop is not deep. Pop is not complex. Pop doesn't have vague lyrics that anyone listening to it can interpret in different ways. Most successful pop songs have minimal lyrics with a catchy hook. Simple. Catchy lyrics with a hook. Nothing against Adam's songwriting but Trespassing was sophisticated pop. Too deep for the pop scene. Stop right there. You're criticizing and fretting over something you have not even heard one second of just based on a few descriptive words. I wouldn't say TSP as a whole was too deep for the pop scene - RCA just chose the two singles that lacked a good hook. A tune being catchy and getting stuck in your head has absolutely nothing to do with how deep the lyrics are. People are attracted to the tune first - if they like it enough, they examine the lyrics later. Example: Sia's Chanelier. I couldn't even understand the lyrics for the longest time; I was just attracted to the tune. Then, when I finally looked at the written lyrics, I thought, "wow, this song is wonderful and deep". It was one of the most popular songs of the year last year. This might surprise a lot of you, but frankly I, and many other people my age (21), are bored of shallow, stupid pop lyrics. I can't even tell you about the number of conversations I've had with my friends and peers just discussing the state of pop music - how so many songs sound the same, are about the same thing, and display zero creativity. They're good for clubbing and little else. Maybe we're already too old for it? I'd hope not, considering it would be very sad if people tired of pop music the minute they were old enough to buy it. So in short, do not underestimate the mental capacities of the average music listener. And I'd say we can definitely use some lyrical depth in pop music.

Go M! Last week needed my phone looked at and the Verison man took one look and laughed at me for tweeter being up on my phone. Conversation went downhill very quickly. I think I scared him.
