I forgot my manners and didn’t say hello!
I’ve been following Adam since the AI auditions and I have followed you all since Planet Fierce (where I lurked) then panicked when it disappeared until I found Adamtopia (where I made a couple of posts but mainly lurked) and then back into lurking mode here!
I met Adam in Glasgow on his promo tour, won tickets to see him at Heaven in London and saw him in Manchester and Glasgow on the GNT. I just love him to bits and I can’t wait for the UK to wake up and catch up with the rest of Europe.
The time difference makes it a bit hard to keep up as you are all getting into the swing of things when we are going to bed, but it is fun catching up!
Real life has been a bit crap lately, but getting into my Adam bubble, listening to his music, watching his DVD and joining in the fun on here (even in lurk mode) has kept my sanity intact! I can’t wait for his next CD – is it autumn/fall yet?

I wonder who all will be available to go with him and if he will do the GNT or something a bit different?

The interviewers do have more current events than Idol to discuss.
BF Album #2 Twitter Charity Water DVD-CD Grammy Nom Successful World Tour
I'm sure you all can think of more.
Any interviewer that doesn't want to come across as an unprepared ignorant dumb-ass, has plenty of material.
There will be folks with an agenda, I suppose. I'm thinking mostly of smart-ass DJs that Adam will have to deal with for the new song/album promo.
The maintenance of the mustache/goatee with the dying and color filling seems too high for when he gets into the crazy busy public appearance mode.
I can't imagine Adam sweating through a concert with that face hair, either.
Welcome evie1512!

Chunkey I agree....neither Jennifer or Adam would have been signed to a major label. And I really agree about these stars & celebs dissing idol. More than likely they would have been there in a heartbeat when they were looking to break in. I truly think it disingenuous at best.

Thanks for the explanation, Evie1512!
I was not aware that being on AI makes it so difficult to being respected as an artist in the UK.
Over here nobody watches AI and Adam is just known as "singer Adam Lambert". He is now established and successful - not huge yet, but slowly rising.
I certainly don´t get the arrogance of some artists - KDLang should check some facts before she makes assumptions. And by the way - in Germany Adam has sold more copies with his first CD than KDLang with all her albums.

See but does Adam have a choice to eliminate the Idol mentions when he does promo in the UK? I can see how he himself may not bring it up, but it still wouldn;t stop the tv hosts/interviewers and whatnot from intorducing him as "Idol runner up..." or asking him about the show. Unless of course his management tells them not to mention it but then it would make him look like an ungrateful ass and yeah. It's a tightrope walk for sure--to move away from the show and yet still remain humble and thankful for what the show gave you. If he can break out with one amazing song, just oooone that catches on in the UK he will have a much easier time. Oh and am I the only one who thinks Bob Dylan is overrated? LOL. I guess not my kinda music...different generations...whatever. No we will never find another one of those bc music has changed in so many ways, some good some bad. I think it's time the musicians who came to fame the old way start to realize that times change and that truly talented ppl coming to fame on these shows isn't good or bad, it's just different. Face it, JHUd prolly never woulda been given a music contract no matter what KD Lang says. Adam either(dunno bout JHud but Adam tried for yrs to make it and got nowehere). They weren't the beautiful pre manufactured pop stars that are all over the airwaves. They were different. Jhud was chubby, Adam gay, heck even Kelly Clarkson tried and sent demos and got nowehere. She woulda prolly been called too chubby/not cute enough and that's that. They may have gotten signed, who knows, but they would have probably achieved minimal success probably in smaller niche markets. These celebs can knock Idol all they want, and yes there is alot to mock, but it has churned out some truly amazing talents and let's face it, I'm pretty sure these stars turning their noses up at it now that they are famous and rich would have had a different attitude about going on the show back when they were struggling and hungry to make it. *rant over* I think that there is a lot of snobbery attached to reality shows such as American Idol, X Factor and Britain/America’s Got Talent. I have always liked KD Lang, but I think she may have fallen into the trap of thinking that these shows are fast tracks to fame, instead of all the years of hard graft some people have to put in before they find success. But isn’t that exactly what Adam had to do? I totally agree that these shows are platforms to get your talent noticed, there is no way Jennifer Hudson or Kelly Clarkson would be where they are today without Idol. Look at Susan Boyle (it’s a hard thing to ask, I know), I mean I can’t stick her myself, but where would she be with BGT? If having a great voice and personality was all you needed, Adam would have been discovered years ago, so I totally agree with you and give you full permission to rant away!! I’m the right age group to think Bob Dylan is/was fantastic, but I’m sorry I never ‘got’ him, so can we get KD Lang to change her list to Freddie Mercury, Adele and Adam Lambert, that’s a more comfortable list to me.

Look how long Jhud has been off the show and she has won A FRIGGIN OSCAR and even she still gets asked about it, etc etc. It's kind of inescapable. I suppose that even if Adam puts out a smash album he will still have people bringing it up. Plus, whether we like it or not, a lot of interviewers are lazy and don't really do their homework or try to think of new and intelligent questions--i.e see all the questions he used to get about eyeliner and meeting Madonna lol--and that's why we get excited when a really good interview is done. I suppose we will get our fair share of good interviews and bad, and in the end it's up to Adam to shed the AI stigma with great music.

More than likely they would have been there in a heartbeat when they were looking to break in. I truly think it disingenuous at best. Didn't Steven Tyler say something like that when he was explaining why he agreed to be a judge on Idol? I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something to the effect that if Aerosmith was trying to break into the business these days, they undoubtedly would have gone on a show like Idol to help get a fan base. I look at Idol as a condensed version of what performers go through to become successful. Auditions, criticism, rejection, effort, hard work. They don't just coast through to the final. And even getting to the final is no guarantee of success. It's the starting gate, not the finish line. I applaud anyone who has the stamina to make it through Idol and establish a career. They're just as deserving of success as anyone else. I like Adam's newest look with less beard. It gives his face definition without overwhelming it quite as much. He really does look like one of the Three Musketeers!

Sorry for OT, but I know many here remember this artist. (and kinda not OT, cause lyrics of this song make me think of Adam.) Just getting ready to close laptop and saw this: Sad. She spent her last decades taking care of her disabled daughter...but I will never forget her beautiful songs/voice. TheSpindleshay #NowPlaying Poetry Man youtu.be/7OxTVxGhHFM RIP Phoebe Snow. Fuck fuck fuck
