Continuing on.... 1/20/2009 American Idol Season 8 – San Francisco Auditions – Recap
Adam Lambert – Age 26 – Hollywood, CA – Stage Actor – “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen – Finally–the first really good audition of the night comes at the 50 minute mark. Adam Lambert is an actor who has already been in numerous stage productions. So much experience, that he’ll be bringing an already-existing fanbase into the competition. TPTB pony up the dough to set his video package against Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida?”– they are totally pimping this guy. His audition song, “Bohemian Rhapsody” shows off his mad vocal range and penchant for theatrics. Indeed, Simon calls him on his theatricality (not for the first, time, I’m sure) but says yes anyway. Adam gushes to Paula, “I saw you when I was 10,” and it’s a kiss on the hand before he leaves the room with 4 yeses. – YES – VIDEO

2/13/2009 Adam Lambert – American Idol Season 8 Top 36 Contestant Adam Lambert – San Francisco – 26 – Hollywood, CA - Audition – “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen Hollywood Group – “Some Kind of Wonderful” Hollywood – “Believe” by Cher Chair Episode Semis Week 2 – “Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones Semis Week 2 Results- “Closer” by Ne-Yo – Group Number Semis Week 2 Results – Adam Advances to the Top 13 AI Hollywood Video – AI Top 36 Video Dance! Hollywood, CA – Adam’s got the 70's-80's heavy-metal androgyny deal going on, with crazy insane vocal ability, and an amazing range. With plenty of screen time and a growing fan base, I think Adam’s got a shot to make the Top 12. If he does, it will be interesting to see how far Adam gets, or if he lets he freak flag fly. His MySpace is dismantled, but there are still plenty of videos on the net. You Tube Goodness: Dancing Through Life, As Long as You’re Mine (both from Wicked), Crazy (Adam’s freak flag? It’s flying) and the beautiful, “I Just Love You”. Adam was also in a band – Band MySpace. Check out more music HERE. One of the 100 comments: Suzanne • 5 years ago − This guy has almost 100 comments, compared with 16 so far for Lil Rounds. People definitely have some feelings about Adam.

2/25/2009 American Idol Semis Week 2 – Who Stays? Who Goes Home?Adam Lambert – Profile - Adam, who has appeared in various theater productions including Wicked in LA, had a fan base coming to Idol, and it’s been growing ever since. His highly theatrical style, even in a tamped down version for middle America (check out the vids on his profile page!) will make him a polarizing contestant from the get go, I suspect. The producers love that, so I predict they’ll advance him to the Top 12 as a wild card if he doesn’t win the popular vote this week.

2/25/2009 American Idol Season 8 – Semis – Group 2 – VIDEO Adam Lambert – “Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones – Wow. Adam is out there. In a really good way. Great vocals, stage presence. He picked the right song to show off his range. Paula says, “I don’t even have words to express…you’re in a league of your own…you’re leaving some in the rear view mirror.” Simon thought parts were brilliant, but others were excruciating. “I think you’re going to get through,” he says. “I loved it.” says Randy, who compares his to a whole host of rock acts. “Your vocal technique is outrageous…who has a range like that?” says Kara.

2/29/2009 More Thoughts on the American Idol Semi-Final Group 2 And Adam Lambert. I’m not convinced he can be a pop star yet. He’s still so much theatre boi to me. But so what? He’s got that incredible vocal range and mad mad performing skills. Maybe he’s a little over the top, but he’s entertaining as hell and has me wondering what he’ll do next–exactly what I want from an Idol contestant. Thank Jeebus for Adam.

2/26/2009 American Idol Season 8 – Semis – Group 2 Results – VIDEO Adam Lambert and Nick Mitchell were paired up at the end of the show, similar to the Danny Gokey/Tatiana Del Toro let’s-pair-up-the-joke-with-the obvious-front runner deal from last week. Gee, I wonder who is going to move on? Zz. Although, unlike last week, the last two standing had the most entertaining (and outrageous) performances the night before.

2/28/2009 Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen – More from the Idol Press ConferenceThe latest Season 8 contestants to advance to the Top 12 were interviewed by the press yesterday afternoon. I posted a few quotes from Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen HERE. Cannot embed video....
In this interview from Entertainment Tonight, the kids namecheck their musical influences. For Kris, it’s the Beatles, Allison? Pink. And for Adam, David Bowie, of course… Adam Lambert: On being a polarizing contestant, “Obviously, I’m a risk-taker. I’m not easy listening, you know? I’m not going to always be the most digestible thing for everybody across the board. I’m specific, and I kind of like to blow it out the box. And either you like it, or you don’t.” Idol experience vs theater experience, “You have to be on your game with the theater world. You have to be ready to go at any moment. I mean, this machine is turning real fast. So I think theater has definitely trained me to sing under any condition and just go at the drop of a hat. Is he hoping for a Broadway Week? “No, I hope they don’t. Not because I have anything against it, I just don’t see myself doing that as a recording artist in that way.” Who is his musical Hero? “I think David Bowie has been a really, really, really, really cool artist, just considering that he’s reinvented himself. He took a ton of risks, both visually, lyrically and musically. Obviously, vocally we are very different, but I think that along those other lines, we have some similarities, and someone like that is a great model for me.” His first theater role, “I actually was cast in a production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown when I was 10. I played the role of Linus with the blanket… I got to sing… I don’t remember the song!” On backstories, “I think it does make a difference. The audience can empathize with that person and they can relate to you singing a song that means a lot to you. That really evokes quite a reaction from the audience.” On having a “different” singing style, “I’ve been watching the show for years and I haven’t really seen anybody that I could compare myself to. I do have an advantage because it’s something different. The more individual we all are, the more chance we have at garnering a fanbase.” Not his favorite genre, “I’m kind of competitive and I like challenges so I don’t think range-wise there’s anything I’d be scared to attempt. There are maybe certain styles I’d want to stay way from. Country week would be a slight stretch for me, but I like all types of music and would try to sing all types of music.” Does he check out the internet? “I try not to dwell on it too much but I have seen things here or there and it does help. I don’t take it personally, good or bad. I try to remain objective. It’s like market research, it helps you find out what the fans think.”

3/2/2009 And From the Captain Obvious Department: Adam Lambert is GayA poster at Vote for The Worst found a bunch of pictures online (supposedly taken at Burning Man) of Adam Lambert kissing another guy (Gasp!). Dave posted them on the front page, and of course they’re spreading across the ‘net like wildfire. It irks me that this sort of thing is a big deal in the first place. It appears that, as far as the vast American viewing audience is concerned, gays on TV are fine, as long as they’re boy-next-door tolerable like the button-down lawyer on Will and Grace. But those like Adam who are OUT and out there…maybe not so much. Gah, I would love to be proven wrong. PS: Kudos on the color coordinated hair and makeup! I mean, seriously, what’s not to like here?

3/10/2009 American Idol Season 8 – Top 13 Performance – VIDEO Adam Lambert – “Black and White” – Adam has a very nice family. Equality baby! You sing it, Adam. The song is kinda appropriate, no? Well, lyrically it is. Not sure I’m liking what he’s doing with this song. Paula says, “Comfortable, seasoned, you’re innate ability…blah blah blah whole package.” Paula is losing it. Adam is about to cry, he’s so moved. Simon says, “That was in a totally different league to everything we’ve seen…you’ve got to be over the top with Michael.” Randy says, “You could make a record right now…I love what you do…” Kara says, “You hit notes…I hope Michael Jackson is watching this tonight.” Paula is mindboggled! I think this performance is overrated. Sure, Adam is comfortable on stage, and he’s got that insane range, but it’s all too cabaret and stagey for me. I can’t believe Simon isn’t calling him out on that. I’m still not buying him as a pop star – 1-866-436-5711 3/11/2009 American Idol Top 13 Wrap up and PredictionsAlthough, I wasn’t wild about Adam Lambert’s cabaret take on “Black and White” there’s no denying he can command a crowed. I couldn’t keep my eyes off him.
