Just checked All Access and GT is there at number 23. Yay! Not that I was concerned but there was that tiny niggling thought that because there was two weeks of negative bullets that it would be purged before going recurrent. I had to see it. I am ready for ALN now!

Not only is it not purged, it has gained in all the metrics.  GT is an unusual song for sure.

My question (I am NOT attached!) What would have to happen for it to remain on the charts?  Not sure about the mechanics of recovery and what would need to happen to have it be in the positive column.

I am pasting in two posts from late yesterday on just how unusual GT is in the land of recurrent songs:

"I find this totally fascinating and incredibly impressive for GT. It is the LOWEST ranking song to go recurrent so far this year. Talk about a slow burn! That says something. Only six songs are on that list that were NOT in the top 10!!! There was Riptide at #18 and Echosmith Bright at 16. Then 4 other songs below 15. GT joins some very impressive company and some hard hitters. WOW. Down the line somewhere there is going to be huge indignation that GT was not higher on the charts but it did what it needed to do and now it is ALN's turn. I wish it the best with all my heart."

I am really tripping on this and it is so cool that I know why I am tripping! It is going to be lost on some many people who don't follow the action how very hard it is to stay on the charts that long without being up there with the big boys and girls. It is just damn amazing. Obviously we would have loved it to be in the top 10 but considering it wasn't, in some ways that makes it even more incredible that it had the staying power to not drop down and out. Just hung in there for weeks.

Apparently I am not shutting up!  LOL  Does anyone know anything about the Riptide song or Bright?  Are they unusual songs?  Are they very big artists or just coming up or reintroducing?  In other words, is there a correlation of any kind between these songs and GT?

Riptide and Bright were both new artists. It took FOREVER for radio to notice Bright! WBR really deserves a metal for the work they did for Bright. Echosmith is a perfect example of WBR believing in their artists! 
GT would have to have a positive bullet to not go recurrent Sunday. As Rihannsu said yesterday, that would mean increasing by over 200 spins this week. Probably not happening. 
But why would we want that to happen, anyway? Recurrent is a great thing! It truly is time for ALN! 
Keeping GT in the BB Hot 100 though would be great! With good AI and streaming, it should stay there at least a few more weeks! Streaming is sooooooo important right now!

Here is an interesting 2 year old article. The intent is to explain hiw "recurrents" came about. The biggest thing I got out of it is that basically PDs are clueless about anyone but the big artists they fast track!

ITA   I prefaced my question with not being attached to it staying on.  I was more interested in knowing the ins and outs of the mechanics.  I am thrilled with the recurrent status for all the reasons I have been blabbing about.  Even DH was impressed with how unique GT is in this regard.  Now I am fascinated to find out from you that there is a correlation in the sense that both of the other songs between 15 and 20 were new artists.  Very cool about WBR and Echosmith.  Makes me so thankful for the umpteenth time that Adam is with them and not FURCA.  

Going to be in NY to hear ALN introduced live as the new single at the Fresh event.  Wish I could get tickets for the other shows but I imagine they are as scarce as hens teeth.
