I absolutely love the fact that my Dad is still so in love with my Mom! Almost 54 years now - and cooks for her everyday - it's his passion! He said this on his facebook page tonight ~ "dinner with my squeeze!!! - one more hour for the veggies!" And posted this pic - ;D ;D ILHSFM! Does he have a brother? Pretty please????

Glittergma,
I have read your post and see you have resolved how to be in this family situation. I do, however, want to express my condolences to you and the family during this time. My 'Gramps' was 104 when he passed. I still miss him. He baked his own bread until he was in his late 90's and my brother has his recipe. A whole grain/molasses bread that was his signature, served up with fresh honey. Some things one never forgets. Hugs and love,

Since it's pretty slow around here, I wanted to share a story that happened a few years ago. I was downstairs in the basement doing laundry (pretty insulated space regarding noise). I had a crew of contractors outside building a new deck in my backyard. So I come upstairs and the contractors are running around shouting "call 911". Of course I don't know WTF happened and immediately thought that one of them got hurt. Then my neighbor (whom I don't speak to) frantically rings my doorbell yelling "Oh My God, Oh My God". I let her in and ask what is wrong. She says "look out your window". So I look and there is an upside down car literally a foot from my window. This is the window that is directly next to my desk and computer, so I spend a lot of time there. I would have died from a heart attack had I been sitting there. Almost immediately there are fire trucks, EMT's, police and news reporters outside. The police closed my street, and there are tons of neighbors standing across the street. They get the woman out of the car and she is totally unharmed. My other neighbor was out walking when this happened and said she flew down the street at around 50 mph. Hit a car a block away. Bounced off of that. Came across the lawn across the street and the car left the air as it entered his yard. She missed a huge oak tree by less than a foot. She crashed into my neighbor's very sturdy steel flag pole. Bent it in half. Crashed into my fence. And flipped over. They have the woman sitting on my deck making sure she is alright. She refused to go to the hospital. I swear to god, she asks for a cell phone and says "I need to call Geico". What a commercial that one would have made. Anyway, here are some pictures. looking out my window i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/littledeb10/100_0441.jpglooking out my window i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/littledeb10/100_0440.jpgfrom across the street. check out the flag pole. i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/littledeb10/100_0438.jpgfrom across the street. better view of the flag pole. notice the huge piece of cement at the bottom of it. she knocked the whole thing out of the ground. t had stood the test of time for over 50 years. i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/littledeb10/100_0432.jpgHad she not hit that flagpole, she either would have come through my window and knocked out the side of my brick house, or continued on and hit one of the guys working on the deck. They were quite shaken up. Thank god for that flag pole. We filed a claim with Geico and got reimbursed for the fences, flag pole, etc. Just thought I'd share.
