So out of curiosity I looked to see how many views Adele's new song had on Youtube (30 million). Then, because the alternative was to step away from the computer, I looked up Beyonce's highest count (428 million). Then of course, I had to google the highest view count. Here it is, at 2,437,244,911. I have a 2,5 year old nephew who loves nursery songs like wheels on the bus and ten little busses. And if you look at those view numbers......many artists would be jealous of it. Like 67 million views! Nursery songs are big business!

I've seen a few comments about how Adam not pissed because of his tweet. Because he is publicly saying something nice and conciliatory doesn't necessarily mean that he is not feeling upset/betrayed. He's very good at NOT burning bridges (Sony/RCA). ETA: Regarding tweens-- aren't Demi's fans growing older with her? of course they are. ;-) and her music much more mature in content and style as well. >> Note: I have nothing against Demi, I just find the concept of Demi + Adam to not make great sense to me from a fan experience standpoint. I bet that I am the only one on this forum who has actually attend a Demi concert. **** Just curious. On what do you base your conclusion that Demi's fans must be older? Her 7 year old Disney fans are now 12. **** She is 22 years old now and far into her shift from kid star to adult star. But there is a difference between who fans are and who attends concerts. The concert I attended was parents and their tween kids -- many at their first concert, many of them left early. I went to Ticketmaster to see if maybe the concert I attended was an anomaly. Here are the top two and bottom two reviews when I sorted by rating from Ticketmaster.com: Demi Lovato was awesome!!! (5 star) SaskTel Centre (Formerly Credit Union Centre) - Saskatoon , SK - Tue, Oct 7, 2014 Posted 04/07/2015 by NBF15 Took my daughter and we loved her perform. She was performance awesome!! Favorite moment: When she sang my favorite song skyscraper!! Setlist: Give you heart a break and heart attack. Opening act(s): Christina Perri and Andee a priceless night (5 stars) Barclays Center - Brooklyn , NY - Mon, Oct 27, 2014 Posted 11/02/2014 by prbeauty This concert was a gift to my daughter her very first concert ever and even though demi seemed to be running late all the other performances were great and Mr.west was inspiring my daughter knows there's no limit u just gotta keep climbing for what you want in life Favorite moment: When Joe Jonas came out Opening act(s): MKTL Christina perri kieza Mohegan Sun Arena (1 star) - Uncasville , CT - Fri, Oct 17, 2014 Posted 10/20/2014 by lpoynton We brought our 12 and 9-yr-old daughters to the concert which was billed as starting at 7:30pm. We knew it might be a late night but we were unprepared for FOUR opening acts followed by a 30-minute intermission!! She went on at 9:50 and our kids were already toast by then. We stayed for the first set and bolted about 10:30. While we were leaving the arena she was talking to the crowd and suggested that parents put "earmuffs" on their kids. She then proceeds to drop the f- word!! She should know that her audience is still composed primarily of tweens and I would expect better from someone who knows that kids are looking up to her. The part of her performance that we actually got to see was passable but if you are thinking about bringing kids - spend the money on a Taylor Swift concert instead. At least she's not a former Disney kid trying to shed the image by being inappropriate. Holy Horrible concert (1 star) Denny Sanford PREMIER Center - Sioux Falls , SD - Fri, Oct 10, 2014 Posted 10/13/2014 by bearskepr Christina Perri was fabulous! Demi came out and screamed the first five songs back to back without taking a breath. Had it not been for the chorus I wouldn't have known what she was singing. Her slow songs were great, she has a beautiful voice. The upbeat faster songs she screamed to the point that you couldn't understand her at all. She rambled about nothing for thirty minutes and to top it all off she forgot the lyrics to one of her songs and had to start over. The four of us got up half way thru and walked out. Favorite moment: Christina Perri ****** I am a Demi fan and I am not a tween -- but I am not interested in seeing her live ever again -- my one Demi concert may be enough for a lifetime. She is not a very strong live performer. She has a very nice voice and maybe in 10 years will do a small concert and actually sing and someone will give me free tickets and I will see her again and reassess my opinion.

Okay don't shoot the messenger, but based upon yesterday's news about Demi, I have a question. Do we think that Adam will not be able to do a TOH tour in the US due to costs, and possible lack of income from this album, so that for him to tour, he must hook up with some other pop star?? Typically we would have had dates by now for next year. I know that many artists are doing double billing for business reasons, and it appears to the best money-making option for them. I feel horrible asking this question, but any thoughts??? But he can afford to tour japan and Australia. And i bet an european tour would. Do good as well, why not America?? Do you know what I love about Adam (amongst others of course): he knows the business side of music. He often points out in interviews that the business side is tricky. It is important to have the right people in your team. There happens so much behind the scenes that we don't know about. And Adam knows that the business side limits opportunities but wlso gives opportunities. this whole co touring story of today, i think this all was discussed by the businesspeople in Adams and Demis team. And Adam knows about these talks and of course he has an opinion about it,mbut it is not like Demi personally said to Adam personally "hey, I don't want you". I don't hear many other artists talk about the business side of the job in interviews. And Adam tip for the contestants on Australias X Factor also was "your team around you is so important" instead of the usual tips "enjoy the moment" these contestants get.

Q3....
You said Phil McIntyre is Demi and Nick's manager. In 2012 Phil McIntyre was plastered on the QAL tickets at the Apollo and on the marquee. I assumed he was just a promoter...kinda like Dainty in OZ. So if he's a manager and a promoter....I imagine he was the primary instigator in this endeavor. $$$ for him? This is a different Phil McIntyre. The promoter is British and is a legendary concert promoter. Demi and Nick's Phil McIntyre is a mid-30's music exec in West LA. Here is a profile of him from Billboard. He has 360 degree deals with both Demi and Nick. He is credited by both artists as being the one who save them and rebuilt their careers. More info: www.billboard.com/articles/business/6677712/phil-mcintyre-safehouse-recordsI have a feeling that the TMZ article was not quite fair to Phil McIntyre. In any case, just being clinical about it -- a Demi tour with Nick Jonas opening makes more sense to me as a marketer. They have shared fans for several years, and successfully toured together in the past. Promoters would be very likely to bank this tour. Demi on her own might have some issues because her 2014 tour was not wholly successful -- many promoters lost money.

cassie, not meaning to put you on the spot, but could you provide a mini analysis of this Demi Lovato isolated vocal? Not sure how they do these isolated vocals, maybe it is not a fair thing to evaluate? With my limited knowledge, I do enjoy her voice, but wonder what you think.

Typically we would have had dates by now for next year. I know that many artists are doing double billing for business reasons, and it appears to the best money-making option for them. I feel horrible asking this question, but any thoughts??? Seems like a fine question to me. Many artists co-tour. Many artist tour as supporting acts. Regarding Adam, he can tour in the US -- but the question is how does he tour and how big are the venues. Regarding 2016 tour announcements -- there is plenty of time to announce a Summer 2016 tour. The Demi deal probably fell apart several weeks ago. I am sure that work is already underway for whatever Adam does next. *** Just my guess -- because the music business revenue and cost streams are too complicated to figure out right by looking at sales: - Adam is a smart business man, who has a very, very smart team. He would not fund his own tour, promoters would fund it. So the royalties and sales do not matter that much. - I think Adam can tour in the US as a headline artist but only in mid-sized venues, not arenas. So my answer is Yes and No. It depends on where he wants to tour. - If Adam supported the Demi Lovato tour, it would have been is arenas and amphitheaters. Financially, this would make sense. They share expenses, share revenue. Even though I think this was not a great idea as an Adam fan, it would make sense to promoters and minimize risk. - If Adam was willing to co-tour with Demi, that means he is receptive to co-touring. I would rather see him tour with an Adult Pop artist and/or an Electro-Pop artist. *** If Adam co-tours, all I want is for it to be a real co-tour and not Adam support some other tour.

I think most of us are waiting with bated breath to see if Adam's TOH does come to pass in the US. It's ridiculous that someone with such a strong international fan base still has trouble booking a full US tour. The US market simply doesn't get it. Sure, GT has done well, and I predict ALN will do very well on the radio and charts. But while foreign venues are selling out, I do wonder if US venues are being booked yet. He's doing all these radio promo shows, which is great, but that's sure not what a tour is. Adam is a one in a billion talent and a marketer's nightmare. The world outside the US seems to really get him. I don't want him opening for anyone. Demi and Nick fit together nicely for their fan bases. Interesting to read the comments above about Demi's concerts. I feel even more lucky to be treated to Adam's shows. Let's hope and pray that a US tour does happen. View, Spotify, Shazam, etc.

For some reason, Skyscraper reminded me of this (maybe the two songs were popular in the same time period?):

It is sometimes easy, as we all know, to become defensive or mis-phrase a response or comment. There is so much room for mis-interpretation in the written word. Plus we are discussing a subject near and dear to our hearts, and a person we are passionate about. Thank you for such a reasoned, reasonable response. And this: is something I can learn from. Thank you. Thumbs up to you both, agree all around.
