Because there are so many collaborations on the radio that make the Top 40 and Top 10, it is really easy to forget how many of these big celebrity collabs fail.
I just do not see collaborations as being a great path for Adam.
If Adam + Rihanna has a #1 hit -- it would be billed Rihanna featuring Adam Lambert and she would get the credit for the hit and most of the money.
Rihanna, for example, released 2 collabs from "Loud" --
"What's My Name?" (featuring Drake) a #1 hit.
"Raining Men" (featuring Nicki Minaj) failed to make Hot 100 in US or UK and it was released twice in the US -- rejected by radio.
Her first two solo singles were both #1 Only Girl in the World and #1 S&M.
He last two singles from Loud are also getting mixed response from US radio:
"Man Down" - released in US only on May 3, no sign it is a hit. Also charted in UK but peaked at #124.
"California King Bed' - sent to US AC and then HAC radio. Still new but getting a mixed response.
I want Adam to write or co-write most of his songs and I want him to be the lead vocalist not a featured performer.
