Recap time. Melbourne show #1
My original wingman for this show couldn't make it so another friend came along who was a total newly to Adam, didn't know him but knew Ghost Town and her daughter knew him from Glee... I'll skip the preamble. Venue was basically sold out so big crowd, super diverse. Youngest I saw was probably 10, then men, women, straight gay, teens, 20s 30s 40s 50s 60s and probably a few 70s or close. My favourites were the couple of village people refugees a few rows back. Wandered over and said hi to a few fellow atoppers - Bamfan, Sandy - So cool to meet up even briefly and somewhat in awe of the journey they are on. Also lovely to see ladyoz again.
A couple of women behind us were a bit upset because they had been told that first 8 rows were no standing - yep but that's just in the balcony so they were shit out of luck in front rows by stage. Everyone was on their feet from first blast for pretty much the whole show with the blessed exception of gigantic guy in front of my friend who decided to sit after first few songs and stayed that way giving us both a great unobstructed view.
Sidebar - to the women in row in front of us a few seats over its kind of rude and supremely annoying to face time your kids so they can watch the show especially during the middle act.
Ok back to the show. A couple of observations. Adams time with Queen have definitely been staging 101. The show is immaculate in timing and transitions between sections. If he didn't work with Queens lighting guy he was taking notes, because the lighting is spectacular, a whole thing all its own worth stopping to really appreciate. It lifts the sophistication of the show up and supports the mood Adam creates with the music beautifully.
Terrance and holly and Adam have a great dynamic together. they are having fun and it shows. My friend was really impressed by the energy they bought. But in the end it's all about Adam. His presence still bowls you over. His stagecraft having been honed with Queen is quite the force today. It is literally almost impossible to take your eyes off him (no charisma my ass). He's also learning to pace himself vocally. He pulled back on a few of the really big notes, not a criticism, your average concert goer would never have known. His voice was still ringing, power filled, play thing that he bends around at will and seemingly effortlessly. Was a treat to hear Runnin live. TISI gorgeous. Surprisingly enjoyed mad world (a song I just can't get into in general). Lay me down shady fever is just too much fun and let's dance fits that set seamlessly with Adam channeling Bowie.
All too soon lights are up and with spots from flashes dancing before my eyes the show is done. A hug and great to meet you to the girls and headed home. How does BoRhap go... Is this the real life. if this just fantasy...
Oh and I still love them moo
Addendum 1 - my friend the one who had no idea who Adam was - she loved it and is off to by some Adam music - and other one bites the dust.
Addendum 2 - Guitarist Adam is good but can we talk about the drummer - he rocks it out.

Recap time. Melbourne show #1 Thanks for your recap! I really enjoyed reading it. Maybe you can answer this question for me.. I'm curious what happens in the transition between the 2nd and 3rd part of the show.. It almost sounds like they are playing prerecorded music or something different from the earlier shows that I watched on streams. It's hard to know what's going on because there hasn't been a stream to watch during that part the last few shows. Glad you enjoyed the show and your friend liked it too! The entire band is so good! I'd love to hear Kickin' In with this band.. it never sounded quite as good as the recording with the other band for some reason..
