That Russian Rolling Stone interview mentioned a couple of pages back is the one we saw a Google translation of yesterday that starts out talking about him having to rest his voice (his "ligaments").
And I agree it was probably security concerns that kept him from stopping to talk to fans coming and going... Also notice when he's in Russia we never see him out on the streets (for example, his band toured Red Square). Everyday Russian people might be very nice, of course, but there seem to be anti-gay goons who would probably see Adam as a great target. JMO.
