You're right, sorry. Rejection was definitely too strong a word (and I kinda knew it as I was typing that which is why I added the ineffectual qualifiers "indulgent" and "goodnatured" : . I guess I'm just declaring my own fondness for that over-the-top Adam (surprise, surprise)--which was it's own form of realness--because I feel like there's a marked preference for the "new" Adam--even if that's just an idea rather than a reality--being expressed. But I know that that's mostly just giddiness and excitement for the new album, and I'm right there with you guys! Plus, yes, mys*&@^#r, hair and earrings are awesome. ETA: WTF how do I always end up at the tops of pages? :-[ It's hard enough for me to get up the gumption to post in the first place, because I get shy and more often than not I don't put it quite right (see above), and this just draws more attention to my stupid posts. As you can tell by my avi, I'm rather fond of over the top Adam too. I have no idea what I'm talking about but my guess is that he maybe got a liitle tired of the rhinestones after GNT and is just feeling like a change. Maybe so much focus on his make up instead of music in the press is making him want to make sure that doesn't happen. Who knows. BUT... I would bet that by the time his next tour comes around he'll start feeling the need for some outrageousness, it's in his DNA . I guess it's part of the fun of being and Adam fan, he keeps us guessing. An interesting article for you numbers crunchers and those interested in what factors make a pop star a success by their standards. All of the pop divas are compared in various categories and a queen of pop is crowned in Rolling stone. Funny I think Adam has tweeted or has some connection to all these ladies. Who would be on the male pop list? www.rollingstone.com/music/news/introducing-the-queen-of-pop-20110629LOL I saw that RS thing posted over at ONTD and the stan wars in the comments was entertaining indeed. We sure have a lot of female pop queens but are there any males really? The closest thing to it now is maybe Bruno Mars. Maybe Taio Cruz? I don't know because his sound is very dancey and not as urban as say Usher or Jason Derulo or whatnot. I would say most male acts lean towards urban, or are rap or rock. Then again I am not sure if leaning towards urban would necessarily disqualify one from being considered "pop". I mean I still consider Usher and the like as pop..rap not so much but.... IDK. It's too bad that Justin Timberlake fell off the musical radar...he could def be a contender for a male pop crown. Other than that I can't think of any other male pop acts that are strictly pop-ish... Oh wait...Pitbull and Neyo are currently pretty hot on the charts right now (though the sound of Pitbull's voice makes me wanna punch someone ngl) but once again...rap...urban.....I guess it depends on the criteria and rules you use to formulate the king.

Adamrocks... I loved your story. These real life interactions with other Adam fans are fun to hear. As for Adam, I love his new pictures; I loved the old pictures, too. But something is really working to make him ridiculously good looking these days. To me now that he is getting older (not a bad thing!) he is looking more handsome and mature in a hot-handsome manly way as oppose to the boyish look of the younger days. Plus being happy and in love probably helps too:-)

MSP I was tempted to quote your post to make it at the top of the page. I did not cause I am so nice. I think we only have a vague idea of what Adam 2 will have but I am SURE it will not have 5 WWFMs on it -- at least from a creative standpoint. BUT I sure hope it has 5 songs as big as WWFM!! Hahaha. You're nice and you're wicked, too. Thanks for taking pity on me! And WORD on your guesses and hopes for Adam 2!!! Thanks, Q3! ETA: DAMMIT!!! "5 more WWFM's" means 5 great singles that sell over 1 Million. It does not mean, 5 songs like WWFM!

Ok so that Dr Frankenfacewhatever interview was sooo not worth the wait. Unecessary drawn out pimping with minimal pay off LOL I like Nikka's hair tho. Just like some website do in regards to AFL.. they want to get a lot of hits from his fans. I bet this guy also trying to get followers from Adam's fan >:( Then again, I'm okay with it.. I don't want to make Nikki felt unconfortable with a lot of questions about Adam, instead of her works... remember when Lyndsey Parker asked the Muse guy i.e. AFL??? There's some AWKWARD moment there

I know, I know, I was just kidding (in an unnecessarily snarky way). I'm gonna go sit in a corner until I can behave. (kidding again, but I do actually need to run off now. It's been real, ladies.)

Having finally watched Velvet Goldmine and knowing it is Adam's favorite movie someone (I think an Atop member?) said they thought Adam may have been living out that dream in the FYE/Glam Nation. I didn't comment at the time, but did agree with that thought. Living his dream so to speak.
Well now that he lived that dream and possibly got tired of it for now and achieved that goal it is time to move on to something different.
We all want Adam to succeed and to do that he DOES need a larger base and yes, some mainstream success. Keeping it real for #2 is the perfect time to show this side of him too.
I am hoping he will work the mainstream for the radio and targeted appearances in the media, while maintaining his OT/fun/playful/more risque... for the tour. Sort of how the first Album was too synth for some, but live it had some pop/rock vibe to it. I think he will be great at having the persona needed for #2 success while still maintaining his sweet, funny nature and staying true to himself.
After all, he is also an actor/performer and this is also a side of him I love, voice not withstanding... And he wants to be known as a songwriter too:-)

you're all completely right, of course, about Adam and his love of changing things up, and how we can never expect the same thing from him twice, and how wonderful that is. I had meant to shut up about this now (well, a while ago) because I'm getting boring (well, a while ago) but I just want to clarify one thing. I don't care about the rhinestones. I mean, no one can wear rhinestones on his eyelids quite like Adam (b!tches) but I certainly don't mourn them. I can see how that would get old (especially after doing meet and greets with 5,000 good-natured, well-meaning, rhinestone-bedazzled fans!) What I really care about is the attitude behind the rhinestones. The sense of humor. The playfulness. The idea that what a lot of great pop music is about is fun (and I'm not talking about the empty dance-floor fun that Chunkey has captured so, um, poetically). The willingness to be absurd. And I guess that all I was trying to say in my original post was that despite all this talk about Serious Adam that these lovely intense photos inspired, I have a lot of faith that all that playfulness and absurdity is still there, and still part of the process and of the artform for him, even if he isn't sporting rhinestones at the moment. I need one of seoulmate's "you have no idea how much I love this post" cat pictures. Chunkey, yeah none of those guy scream fabulous pop star. It makes you see how hard it is to do what Adam is trying to do. On the bright side that old sales saying " Find a need and fill it" may work for him.

Just my 2 cents about Adam #2. We've all known Adam 2 would be different. He can't sing a song the same way twice. His new album has to go in a different direction. And the tour, I can't imagine how bored he became with that. I always suspected a hippie look the next time around. Instead, this new look reminds me of a sophisticated John Travolta in "Grease" or Fonzie or young Elvis. lol All of these are great looks. Young Elvis *swoon*
