I find peace in my expectations of how good #2 will be from Adam himself. He has a very nice balance of cocky confidence mixed with humble humility. Specifically his comments about raising the bar and taking it to a new level at the Idol Finale, and also his twitter comments about Adam Levine knowing who he was after this next album. I think that he would never have presented these sound bites about the album if he truly didn't believe that he had something great and special. He is not that careless to just throw statements out there like that if he didn't think he could back them up. ITA with all your recent posts and what mys*&@^#r just said. I REALLY think PDs played their games and worked their power trips and hopefully got it out of their systems last era. The world has already changed in the past two years. Whether the backlash against him was homophobia or AI/talent-show resistance, I think many of these people will have checked themselves and will realize how petty they were being to a formidable talent. I think Adam is approaching this exactly right in that he took whatever games people were dishing out with a good-natured smile and continued to give the radio stations everything they needed. He did small gigs, great interviews, he had a sense of humor and never got defensive or accusatory about the BS they MIGHT have been floating out in interviews or saying behind his back (which usually abruptly ended once they met him, as we all know). He kept his focus on the big picture at all times and I truly believe it's all going to pay off with this album. His confidence in that Levine tweet spoke volumes to me. ETA: LMAO at your Hulk Hogan macro, Jamie. You're on a roll tonight. Also, Ali Tamposi wrote songs for Kelly and Beyonce.

Yep--he's doing exactly what Madonna told him to do - "keep your eye on the prize." And I agree with the confidence in that Levine tweet - sent chills down my spine in a very good way and made me feel even better about the album.

LMAO to your post, MWP!! I loved it too. Jamie, I am reeling from the Rolling Stone article. It is fascinating and to me and I think it only reiterated the concept that this industry is starving for a male pop star. As Kara said, "No one else is doing it – it's your lane, kill it!" (Yes, I know she was talking about a rock amalgam, but still the sentiment applies.) There is no one that is remotely like Adam right now. Things can change so incredibly fast. We never heard of Taylor Swift four years ago and now she has with 40+ awards????? (I always said that child made a pact with the devil); now I think it's time she has her obligatory pop diva breakdown Okay, I'm only half serious/joking/take your pick about that 8-) The one the that can put a crimp in this plan is the almighty radio. I remember Adam doing an interview after FYE had come out and saying he had no idea how much power radio stations had. A few more times he has mentioned that radio would never let an actual gay man sing a gay anthem or use the same sex pronoun. I HATE the fact that he has these constraints in his head while recording this album while the pop divas and rap guys can get away with anything. You know he wants to be pushing buttons and the envelope. He'll figure it out but it sucks that he has to. What he's doing now will make it easier for the next guy coming up behind him. But it still must be a thorn in his side. I really think that it is important to separate what Adam has said to explain to fans a situation -- JMHO Fever was not a good chocoice to go to radio for a number of reasons including the pronoun -- and his creative process. He needs 2 or 3 commercial radio tracks, the rest can be album tracks that appeal to fans. If Fever was a better commercial radio track, Gaga would have kept it. She is not known for generosity.

Whenever I google Adam the pics that come up one the first page always include at least one, and usually two of Adam kissing a dude. Today, for the first time, no kissing photos. Perhaps that controversy is finally over? Now, can I hope that the photos will be more up to date than the two year old ones featured? Don't want to push too hard. Can we keep the one with him and Brad outside with the purple hair? That one may have contributed to my obsession when I first discovered him, could be useful for new converts. He was HOT in that pic.

Depends on what you click on to some extent. Yes, THEY know. ???

ITA with all your recent posts and what mys*&@^#r just said. I REALLY think PDs played their games and worked their power trips and hopefully got it out of their systems last era. The world has already changed in the past two years. Whether the backlash against him was homophobia or AI/talent-show resistance, I think many of these people will have checked themselves and will realize how petty they were being to a formidable talent. If PDs are worried about audience acceptance of an openly gay man (and that had to be part of the problem) then the last two years as you have pointed out Susie, have indeed made a difference. The marriage equality debate has been a source of concrete positive statistics showing that the general public favors this option by more than 50 percent overall and if the PDs are looking at the statistics closely (and they wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't) they will note that in their younger target audience the percentage are strongly in favor and clearly show an upward trend. If Adam#2 is good and it will be, I don't think there is any chance they will buck that trend. So I think that a lot of the crap we saw with FYE just will not happen. Especially with strong statistics to back it up. These polls have pretty much taken out the guess work.
