Needacoke.. it is very nice that she can do it.. and I have no problem with it.. however, I think the problem is that she has gifted etc to such an extent.. that she is now getting special (it seems) recognition for it.. and I guess some feel the need to go hmmmmmm... ETA.. that twitter does not exist.. I googled and got a link to this board.. ????? and the post of it.. The twitter did exist so the troll must have been hassled enough to delete...or simply feels she/he accomplished the desired goal. Re recognition....we want Adam to receive recognition for what we did through the 'do something' campaign...so why should Sherrie not get recognition...she has done a lot for Adam and many other young artists. IMHO. Wish I could afford to do that.....:-(

Ok, it is now official, I am completely lost. And sad to say, it isn't the first time Not any big secrets here. Sherrie Richie has spent a lot of money supporting Adam and his friends and other AI8 finalists. She started out anonymous about it but then went public. After she got the mod slot at ALF, there were a lot of complaints about it addressed to Adam, Lane, Leila, and publicly. Today after Adam wished her a Happy Birthday and thanked her, there were some more complaints -- most on Twitter and a lot in Adam's feed. I think it is all a "whatever" but I am equally sure Adam knows about it. He does read his twitter feed. It's never a dull moment in Adamland .. there're all kind of gates...

And Madonna is now an independent artist. She can really do whatever she wants. I expect she will take her time. But the evil side of me is hoping (against hope) the sell sells way more than Gaga. I know this is late, but this is so hilarious omg that gif hahaa!!

I think Sherrie is a victim of tall poppy syndrome. You know the rich and affluent are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I don't remember Sherrie willingly going public, it seems to me she was outed about her gifting by people trying to make something negative about it. She was accused of having some ulterior motive because she was not open about it so now that she is open she is still accused of ulterior motives. It's like all the idiots that tell Bono he should shut up and put his money where his mouth is. U2 is not public about the majority of their charitable giving because they feel that when it is public it becomes advertising. But they are criticized for not giving enough because they won't discuss it. There are many who want to defend them and want them to defend themselves but it really wouldn't matter because if they did go public with what they do they would be accused of using that to score points.
If you become rich and then try to spend money on your friends you are accused of showing off and lording it over people but if you don't spend money on them you are accused of being Mr. Scrooge. I personally haven't seen anything indicating that Sherrie has acted like an entitled fan. If there is concrete evidence of something I missed then please enlighten me.
As for fans being chosen to be mods, well there will always be someone who isn't happy with who is chosen or why. Nobody is going to be accepted without complaint. There were even people bitching about Leila being involved in the fan club for god sakes.

Some people Love Sherrie some of us don't and have had bad experiences or are not impressed with Her "generosity". I would rather change the topic to something else. We should stare at this instead of that 3D thing Adam posted that gave Me a headache!

Lisapf, I love your avi too and it seems all-so familiar for me, it's my phone wallpaper, so I see it every time I check my phone.
My feelings about Sherrie are conflicted; I truly see both sides.
First of all, I DO think she's sincere in what she does and it's admirable. However, I can see how it does smack of "buying your way in" to the inner-sanctum. Therefore those with means get preferential treatment. And yes, that's frustrating for many who have supported in every other way except that level of straight-up financial.
Then again, there have been wealthy benefactors to the arts for as long as there have been artists. It's nothing new. We may have never heard of Monet or Picasso if they didn't have sponsors who believed in them (just picked random artist's names, don't know if they actually were sponsored), so YAAY for people with means using their money to help artists get to the next level or survive while they create.
Should they get more public recognition than the other fans who have been supporting tirelessly since day one? I don't know. I think a birthday DM might have been the better way to go in this situation.
ETA: Sorry, Lulu, we cross-posted. Didn't mean to circumvent your referee. Also, great points, rihannasu, yes – I can see how many with affluence are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Envy has to be one of the most soul-sucking emotions out there and I am as guilty of it as anyone but when I recognize it in myself, I mentally put the brakes on as fast as I am able.
What Dr. Ritchie does is called patronage. She is a patron of the arts and her money gives her access. She would not extend that patronage to Adam and company if she were not a fan. That's just the way it is.
When you donate small amounts to your local/national political candidate you are promoting a cause you believe in but don't expect that Senator or representative to come knocking on your door. If you donate a lot of money, you expect a dinner or event or handshake. If you donate a shitload of money .... we're talking subsidies or ambassadorships!
Now on to more important matters, pudding is still cooling off but the potato salad and bison chili dogs were great!
