I think Cook has a real challenge ahead of him to reposition for the next album. It will be no small trick. I see nothing in the first two albums (or his pre-Idol indie album) that indicate he can write a great pop/rock track. And I would not expect someone major (like Tedder) to "give" him a great song. So I am not optimistic. I actually believe that Cook took a stand on TLM and that he has no intention of going poppy. I suspect he might choose to go indie. JMHO JMHO an artist really can't take a stand when under a major label contract -- but they must stand for something that the label execs believe in -- and they believe in what they think will sell. On genre -- I have no doubt that David Cook wanted to put out a post-grunge album and he did. It is retro (rear view mirror) post grunge circa 1999. But the album is loaded with the usual suspects for co-writes and the single is a Ryan Tedder song. He worked with Ryan Tedder (Last Goodbye) in April 2010 -- so not something that was done at the last minute. He also worked with David Hodges, Claude Kelly, Gregg Wattenberg ("Hey Soul Sister", Daughtry "It's Not Over"), Lindy Robbins -- these are all "go to" people for pop and pop-rock hits. IMO the best song on the album (although not radio hit material) was co-written by David Cook and Neal Tiemann (his tour bandmate and musical director). I think it is too bad that he did not go on in a contemporary indie direction. ETA: Sorry to go off on a Cook tangent -- but seeing both David Cook and Archie miss with their second albums (Christmas albums do not count) is a bit hard to watch. But a bit like driving by a car accident.

OK I listened to The Canyons.. pretty vocals & nice harmony, but a throw back IMHO.Kind of like the main Beachboy kids plus C. Phillips. Forgot the name of the group.. but I guess you get my drift. A bit boring, but maybe pretty background music..

I was not impressed with the Canyons when they opened for Adam -- and I tried to like them.

July 27, 2010 Ryan Seacrest Interview -- He says he’ll be working on it “abroad” (coinciding with his international tour of Asia and Europe) and will write new music based on his experiences this past year. He’s also learned a lot about what his audience wants. The plan was for him to go to Europe and to work on the album -- that plan was scrapped sometime during the EU Tour. And RCA Ed indicated that they were starting to plan Adam #2 in October 2010. Last summer and fall Adam did talk releasing a single/album the next spring/summer. He also tweeted while on tour He was going to start to think about writing. But alot changed He started touring overseas and was busy until the middle of December and took a well earned vacation. I just don't remember see anywhere it was officially suppose to be a spring/summer release. I've never seem anywhere it said that Adam was pushed back releasing by the label. And like I said earlier Adam isn't great with dates. That was Him probably just talking in general terms last year about dates.Adam isn't like David Cook who took 2-3 years to release an album, or Avril Lavigne & Kelly Clarkson who have had RCA push back their albums. As for RCA ED He was saying a lot of things and some of them were not very nice when He was trying to get the cray to be quiet about releasing another single last year.
