Is there a full moon???? Someone posted that Adam funded his own tour on MJs. The comment went to Twitter as fact and came back here. I post on MJs that I did not know of any support for the statement that Adam funded his tour. The response was the Kidd Kraddick interview. But it is not in the Kidd Kraddick interview -- not said by either Adam or KK. So as far as I can determine, there is no support for the statement that Adam funded his tour. The reason it matters is that in Idol-speak this is a massive insult. Only one Idol alum had to fund his own tour, Taylor Hicks, and that was because no one would fund it. I usually overlook this Idol nonsense but this is being used to say that Adam was not "bankable". Which is total nonsense. I agree, that statement in the Kradick interview can be interpreted many ways, but I got that he paid the staff expenses, as he should, since he was the employer, but not that he self-funded the tour. :

I only asked out of curiosity and an interest in the music biz in general. No positive or negative thoughts about whatever answers I might get. Not questioning the amount of hard work Adam obviously put into his well deserved success. Curiosity can cause trouble! Apologies if it seemed I was stirring things up. Really only after peace&love&randominformation.

I think Q3 was referring to what's going on on other blogs and twitter, I don't think it was directed at anyone here, right ? : : Of course I am assuming that, Q3 ?

I had the impression they are certain that Adam funded his own tour because there was no sponsor logos etc attached to the tour, like coke and pop tarts for Idol. ETA it's these kind of discussions that keep me away from Idol blogs :-/ lol, the person who said that at MJs wasn't trying to stir trouble for Adam. It was more of a statement saying that he was big enough to do it on his own. He talked about how much he was able to work into the budget that he had. It's an easy mistake for those of us who don't know the music biz to make. If the twitter twits are dogging on Adam that he didn't deserve or didn't make that amount then I'm pretty sure that they are trolling the waters with Glambert chum bait and sitting back and seeing how often the line twitches.

"A little knowledge is a dangerous thing." That should be the warning label on google, twitter, etc. What does it mean to fund a tour? What did Adam mean when he said he "paid for everything" and "paid for everybody else"? Who pays for what, when, how? Heck, what are the expenses and outlays for a tour?
The people engaging in this conversation seem to think they are all talking about the same question and the same concept, but as I read along, it is obvious they aren't.
This is Q3's area of expertise, from what I understand. She seems to be the only one in the discussion who has more than "a little" knowledge about how the finances of touring work. Perhaps she can define some terms so that we can be on the same page when discussing it.
Or perhaps it is not worth the effort. Bottom line: why is everyone on twitter and fan sites talking about this? In the case of Adam fans, I think it is because we want Adam to reap the financial rewards for all of his hard work. We want to know if the Forbes numbers are close to accurate in order to answer that question. For Adam detractors, I think they want to minimize or negate the appearance that Adam is very successful, with the reasoning that their favorite unfairly suffers in comparison to Adam. That success for Adam robs their favorite of some measure of success.
Where the hell is the logic in any of that? [shaking my head in confusion].

Really only after peace&love&randominformation. No trouble caused at all. It was a really good question. The original post on MJs that started the whole swirly mess has no basis in fact at all. The the hair splitting started. And it is a waste of time. ETA: Cassie thanks for the kind remark but all I can say is that we know very little about the way this tour was financed. But we do know that... -- there was outside financing from several promoters. -- Adam paid the musicians, dancers, crew and travel expenses from his share of the revenues. -- the promotional cost for the tour was very low because the ticket sold without much/any advertising. -- most of the shows were near capacity. This was a very profitable tour. Adam shared in the tour's success as he should have. But we know very little about the specifics of Adam's tour finances.
