Girldrummer:
Yes agree Adam made it, and yes Adam has the
IT FACTOR. And yes! Alisan ran into difficulties with a label, and as you said, so did many in the final years of AI. I think it was a combination of Adam as a personality, with financial help.
In the majority of its years of operation, the AI recording company contracts
initially ---
truly invested ---in their contracted artists with bigger money and intent than the Voice's contract/ $100,000. The difference for Adam was a
GENUINE goal to produce an album and promote the artist. The contestants may have felt the contracts stifling, but it got them moving in a career they did not have before.
In Adam's year, even the second and third place individuals---got recording contracts, and the contestants got a tour for promotion. If only the first place contestant got a contract? If Adam did not fight to have some financial backing to tour after his first album? If Adam did not fight to get better terms than others?
Adam may have had a career after AI, but his path was luckily enhanced by financial backing due to his demonstated charisma.
I would think the goal for the recording company was to make money from the artists, just like any other signed artist. The TV show had the bonus of developing fan bases through each season, and with Adam that has carried him.
BUT, with times changing even AI ran out of steam supporting artists. Was it ---the background implications of drops in industry album and singles sales? internet downloading? the quality/personal charisma of the chosen top contestants?--- to outline a few things that could have impacted.
Who knows... who cares...not me...
I am just thrilled that Adam created his chance and was supported with a contract. It has changed my world and his. In this case, fortune did reward the brave, as per Paula.
