Yesterday? (July 27), much of the discussion focused on some of the general views of Queen purists and many of their continuing lambasts of not only Adam as frontman but also of some criticisms of Brian and Roger's choice of Adam as frontman. I was unwell yesterday, and I just wanted to add a bit of information that I have located regarding Brian and his comments on Adam's voice. Girldrummer: "...Adam's voice is extremely good, better than Freddie's in some ways. Even Brian and Roger have alluded to this. This must be very painful to the purists, like an act of treason." Talon: acknowledges that Brian has noted that Adam can sing higher than Freddie but notes: "and for the record, Brian and Roger have never said Adam's alluded to (sic.) Adam's voice being better than Freddie's..." Thelambertluvva: "I don't remember where, but I remember Brian saying that Adam had the best voice he's ever heard. Does anyone else remember where he said that? I remember it because it jumped out at me." I remembered it as well. But stepping into the shoes of arguably rock's most charismatic frontman, Freddie Mercury? Despite near impossible odds, Queen's partnership with Adam Lambert has hit all the right notes. The band's legendary guitarist Brian May gives their current singer highest praise, declaring "[Lambert] has the most extraordinary voice I've ever heard." "That says a lot because I've heard a lot of voices in my time,". May adds. "It's an extraordinary instrument, and he's learned to control it and harness it during the time we've worked with him. Sometimes, I just stand and watch, and my mouth drops." Note on Source Material: The New Zealand Glitter Tribe posted this article on its Facebook Page. I was searching last night and this morning, but I kept searching for "best voice Brian May" and nothing came up. But then I thought, I think Brian used the word "extraordinary" and started googling for that and found the same article you found. I was just about to post it but I am glad to see someone besides me remembers. Doesn't "most extraordinary" mean even more than extraordinary than than Freddie? I think I also remember something like "he can do things with his voice that I have never heard anyone else do". I am now going to bookmark this article in case I need to use that quote.

This is a really nice wrap-up to this discussion. I seem to remember Brian (and maybe Roger in some way) saying that Adam can do things with his voice that Freddy probably could not do. But both of them, while heaping praise on Adam's voice, have been pretty careful about putting him above Freddy. BTW, I think my "alluded" is fine. If I made an error, so be it. This Adam/Freddy comparison will go on and on forever in any discussion of the two. Long after QAL is done, it will remain a emotional debate in the annals of rock history.

I am good with that! And I guess QPR will be memorable footnote.
