She's been interviewed in two Tutka Roadshow episodes too.V: Our next guest came in the public eye after winning the reality show Big Brother in 2007. He came in the public eye of the whole world after he fell in love with Adam Lambert, and nowadays he is living in Los Angeles where he is soon going to start shooting his own TV program. Welcome, Sauli Koskinen!
S: I was actually nervous walking down here!
V: You were?
S: Yes, I was. Don’t know why.
V: Totally for a reason! This is a tough moment! This is a really tough moment!
S: But it’s lovely to see you! It’s wonderful to see you Vappu, and it’s lovely to see you too, Jenni. We haven’t met before, but now we’re going to get to know each other really well.
V: Yes!
J: That’s right! You said that you’ve been secretly stalking us, that you’re a fan of our “Piilokorot” (a candid camera -type part of the show) – he said so (points at Sauli).
S: Yes! I was thinking that I would’ve liked to be in it with you!
V: With us?
S: Yes! Will you take me with you next time?
V: Well, we can discuss about that…
J: I think that it will go through very well now that we’ve talked about it here and then you go somewhere…
S: Well, yeah, yeah… but let’s cheat a bit and shoot it somewhere like in Sweden.
V: Yes.
J: Yeah.
V: But so, you came to Finland a week ago. What were you missing from here – what was the first thing you did?
S: Well, I came to Finland last Thursday and the next day, the Friday morning, I was at the shooting of a TV program, so that was the first thing. So I’ve been quite busy, I’ve been here for a week now and I really haven’t had all that much time to rest yet. Hopefully I’ll have some time now to see my friends and family.
V: But have you missed things like rye bread or salty licorice – nowadays you can get quite a lot of those things in the States too, but is there anything specific that you’ve missed?
S: I don’t… No, I don’t really have any particular food that I would miss. I would say the things I miss most are my friends and family.
V: So, you moved to the USA to be with your spouse Adam Lambert. Are you just housewifing there or how do you spend your days?
S: (laughs and lays down on the couch) Yeah, this is how I spend my days there, just laying on the Baden-baden lounge chair, doing nothing. You should know that – you’ve visited us!
V: Yes, I’ve visited you! And that’s how he was!
S: Okay, seriously…
V: No he wasn’t…
S: Well, let’s say that the first year went while getting used to living there, and you know yourself that it’s not that easy to move from here to abroad to some strange place. But I’m writing a couple of blogs and spent the time getting familiar with the place and now I have a lot of friends there. I’ve been trying to find a way to get into working life there too and now finally my dreams are coming true and I’m going to get to make my own TV program there.
V: We’ll talk more about your TV program in a moment, but well - you’ve also been in some modeling pictures, there’s been quite a lot of them and you were even in a fashion publication…
S: Yes.
V: Do you wish you will get more of these modeling jobs?
S: Well, let’s say that it’s nice to do… I like doing them and all, so if there’ll be more of those on the side, it’d be great. Even this, that we took those fashion photos – it was actually a girl from Estonia, a friend of mine, who took those photos – and then we just tried to get them into some magazines, and then this big magazine called Fault got interested in and made a big article of them… That was just great. So, of course if opportunities like this come up, I’m all for them!
V: And of course, since the volumes in the USA are just a bit bigger… in there it’s a big thing if someone says like that “hey, my friend’s ear was in that ad!” (changing voice) “Hey, his friend’s ear was in that ad!”
S: Yeah, yeah!
V: There it really is… those kind of things are important there.
S: Yeah, it was a big thing. I didn’t realize myself how big a thing it would be. They advertised it even months before, and I was a sort of pretty embarrassed myself and they wanted to make a really big thing of it – at first we were talking about two pages and then it ended up being seven pages.
V: Yes.
J: The exact opposite of what happens to us – they say seven-page story…
S:… and they cut it to half…?
J: …and it ends up being just a tiny piece in gossip pages.
V: Right. But yes, so you’ll be getting your own TV series, and you’ll start shooting it for FOX. Tell us a little bit about it. You’ll be interviewing Finns – who?
S: Let’s say Finnish well-known people who are living in Los Angeles. There will be one person or maybe even more in each episode.
V: Give us a couple of names, who you’ve already booked?
S: Well, at least Riku Campo will be there, and then… I really don’t want to mention that many names yet…
J: One more? No one’s watching us!
S: Well, we might have an ice hockey player or such also …
V: Oh, an ice hockey player?
S: And then… a cook and… people from here and there. But let’s say it will be a great show and I’d like the show to be warm and in a good atmosphere and so on.
J: Well, we know nothing about that kind of a thing…
S: Mmm, yeah.
V: We keep on trying hard, but so far with no success.
S: Well, you won’t get to be my guests then.
J: Well, we don’t live there!
V: Yet!
J: Right – not yet!
V: But hey, you two have moved now. And Kelly Osbourne is your neighbor now. So surely you’ve already gone to her to borrow some eggs or to give her some muffins…?
S: Well, we do chat a bit every time we see each other.
V: Oh yeah? What do you talk about?
S: I got some vitamins from her.
V: From Kelly Osbourne? I don’t think you should take those if you look at her past – there might be something else there…
S: Yeah…
J: Just say you thought they were some truffles, that will go through here.
S: Yes. And a couple of times we’ve been hulahooping together.
V: Oh, that kind of a thing! Okay, well… when Adam was making his new album, I remember you told me that he asked you to listen to the songs.
S: Yeah…
V: And there are some songs there that tell about you, and about you two. Do you… can you tell him straight up if a song doesn’t work? Did you say to Adam like: “Listen, this doesn’t work?”
S: Yes, I can do that.
V: You told him straight up?
S: I’m a really frank person.
V: So did you say him like that about some song?
S: Yes, I told him “I don’t like this one.”
V: What did he do? Did he pay attention to it?
S: If you are asked for an opinion, you should answer truthfully…
V: Yes
S: …whether or not it’s taken seriously. Well I am always really candid. But I also have to say, that I really don’t know that much about music business. I also remember… there are quite a lot of people, also from here Finland, from record companies, who have sent me songs saying that “this would be a great song to play to him”. I’ve been pretty good at delegating those messages, because why should I be involved in that? I myself don’t understand a thing about music and so…
J: Does Adam understand that? That when he asks for your opinion, has he realized that you’re a bit out of it? He puts all the hit songs down the drain…?
S: Well, I do listen to the radio and am able to recognize hit songs there.
V: That’s true! Hey,..
S: Yeah yeah. Isn’t it better to say then – if you ask a person who doesn’t understand that much about music?
J: Absolutely!
V: But here in Finland – let’s talk a little about – here in Finland the proposition for a law concerning the same-sex marriage was voted down this week. What do you think – is Finland a totally backward country?
S: Well, I don’t know… I haven’t even thought about those things very much.
V: Have you two thought about making your relationship official?
S: Naawww, I’m not at all… I mean, why should we? I don’t know… If people want to get married, they should get married. I think you should be able to get married wherever you like.
V: Yes, it’s possible elsewhere.
S: People can go to Vegas and get married there – don’t they marry everyone there?
V. Yes, they do! We three could probably even get married together there! True.
J: Was that a proposal….?
S: Don’t they have this drive-in lane there, like they have at McDonalds…
J: I’ve heard that you’ve been driving around there a bit before. We don’t know about that thing.
S: Didn’t Britney get married in that kind of a thing?
V: Yes she did, and then annulled it the next day.
S: Right. Just like that.
V: But hey, thank you Sauli Koskinen and tomorrow…
S: Are we finished already?
J: We’re finished now.
V: See, this is how it goes. But to PowerPark tomorrow…
S: Yes, I’m going to PowerPark tomorrow.
V: Yes, you can be spotted there. It’s some kind of a family orientated skiing thing…
S: It’s a winter event for the whole family, I’ll be there hosting it the whole day.
J: Why should I talk here when she’s talking? I’ll just be quiet.
S: Oh, you know better! Vappu’s telling where I’m going.
V: Yes, there to the PowerPark.
S: But hey, since Adam is having a gig here soon, we’re going there together, right?
J: Absolutely, yes!
V: Absolutely, for sure!
