I hope we get to see a video of Sauli ice skating here on Atop. He looks so damn handsome. I want to see him skate. Please some of you gals from Finland, is there any chance you can help? I absolutely adore Sauli. Here is cute video at about 9:10 Sauli comes out with his partner. ....The picture blurs...so I am not sure if Sauli tripped/but there is a hesitation in the camera footage....OHHH Sauli. The rest of his skating is smooth in comparison to some!!
edit: Thank you belle... I did miss the video showing Sauli's picks engaging the ice haha, and for you confirming it was not real ice. I have spend a silly amount of time googling and google translating the articles that I could find. FUN!I doubt that is real ice...I bet it is that plastic type sheeting that is used for ice skating in warm climates for theme parks etc. If that is the case that sheeting is not that easy to skate on ...as I tried it in Phoenix. My brother who was a v.good hockey player in his day and I was a competitive figure skater, and I tell you.... we cruised around better than most, but it is not easy to look graceful and keep your balance on that plastic stuff. We kept on laughing and after about 20 min thought we better get off before we fell and "killed ourselves".

Competitive male/female hockey players and competitive ice skaters were paired. At at least they could all skate; it was the adjustment to the figure skates and toe picks, and pairs lifts etc; that were the challenges. This version in Finland would be more like the US version where the guest stars have limited skating experience. It was a bit scary to watch!!!

Thanks for the video. It was nice to see the competition. I have high hopes for Sauli. I hope I get to see each show.

I'm excited to see Sauli on DOI! So I take it his partner Nea Ojala is a professional skater in Finland? The other celebrities who are competing, are they TV or movie actors, singers or what? Trying to figure out how the show works.

`here am ,having a few nostalgic moments ,about ,myvisit to finland ,it was ,such a life moment to meet you all ,i think about,all those i met often , BOBO, we wil meet again (probably dancimg i n the clouds) what brought this on ,watching ,for the 10th time ,end of an era Well, you lot may be happy to wait until you' re dancing in the clouds but I want that reunion a bit sooner than that , thanks.... Yes, I also want a reunion some day! We think of the wonderful time in Helsinki every day! Miss you all a lot! ![]() ![]() Oh and I'm very happy for Sauli that he takes part in that ice-skating show! He looks perfect in that typical outfit, almost like a professional skater! ![]() I hope he will have lots of fun and perhaps even win the show! Hoping for some videos!  |

This Dancing on Ice that Sauli will be on, is it only on in Finland or the USA too??? This one is only shown in Finland, but originally the format comes from Great Britain. Since the channel that airs it (Nelonen) uses web-TV, I would think that the show would be visible through that, but I'm not sure it it works outside Finland. I'll try to upload the programs to YouTube if I don't run into copyright troubles, and post the link in the thread here. We'll see how it goes. And Savvy and Scotia, you're welcome!  |
