Some more info on the Elvis Special tapings and why we didn't see anything from Jenifer Lopez or Ed Sheeran: theblast.com/elvis-presley-nbc-special-blake-shelton-post-malone-jlo-concert-tribute/JLo, Blake Shelton & Post Malone Joined Star-Studded Lineup for Ultimate ‘Elvis Comeback Special’Elvis Presley is being honored with an all-star night of performances to commemorate his iconic 1968 TV special, and the big acts that showed up were definitely worthy of paying tribute to The King. “The 50th Anniversary of the Elvis Comeback Special” taped this week on the Universal lot in Los Angeles on the same stage used for NBC’s “The Voice.” The production was so big, it took two days to film in front of a live audience. Elvis’ daughter and granddaughter, Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough, shared in some of the hosting duties for the remake of his famous 1968 Comeback special. On December 3, 1968, Elvis performed live on NBC for the first time since 1961, and it ended up becoming NBC’s highest-rated show of the season. Sources at the taping tell The Blast the lineup was absolutely insane and featured the hottest entertainers around performing Elvis’ greatest hits. We’re told the first night included Blake Shelton, Post Malone, Keith Urban, Shawn Mendes, Little Big Town, Mac Davis and Darius Rucker. Interestingly enough, we’re told Miranda Lambert actually performed during the second night of filming with her group, Pistol Annies, which also includes Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley (no relation). Sources at the show tell us Lambert seemed noticeably irritated throughout her performance and “walked offstage” as soon as the music was over. We’re told the audience members were speculating her sour mood was perhaps brought on by performing on “The Voice” stage, considering the history with Blake Shelton. The second night also brought performances from Adam Lambert, John Fogerty and Dierks Bentley. We’re told it was an amazing night and the crowd was definitely left all shook up. Along with the live performances, the tapings also included pre-recorded songs from Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Ed Sheeran, Alessia Cara, Yolanda Adams and John Legend. The special — which will also include rare Elvis footage, outtakes and interviews — will air in 2019.

Ah....so the big names pre-recorded their songs for The Elvis Special. Wondered why Julian didn't mention any of them. Why does John Legend have to be in everything. lol At least we'll get 1:30 to <2:00 of Adam.

Been out of the house a lot today, so just posting now. So fun to watch Adam on XF. He's just critical enough to give him judging some cred, and just praising enough to be encouraging and positive. He has really good instincts about stuff like this. He just gets it. As for Playmobil, I guess we don't have a US release date yet, but I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. Looks like it's a high-level production! Adam is in good company. Can't wait to hear his voice when he is in character as that delicious villain. Curious about the Wicked Halloween special. Can't really visualize how it will presented. I'm just glad Adam is a part of it! And I hope he sings more than one song! I'll take a guess at it, although very likely wrong Seeing as it's only an hour long, I suspect it'll open with brief vignette about the show, how long it's been on Broadway, where it's been playing all over the world, box office success, albums sold etc, a little background. Then the introduction of Kristen and Idina. Then they will host the rest of the show with intros of the other performers. They will close with their performance of For Good. My guess as to songs, in no particular order except the end song: Wizard and I (Ariana Grande) Popular (current Bway cast perhaps, not sure or maybe Pentatonix if not DG) One Short Day (current cast) Defying Gravity (Pentatonix perhaps) As Long As You’re Mine (Adam and Ledisi) For Good (Idina and Kristen) I have zero, even beyond zero hopes for Adam to be in any other song. Fiyero only has two songs and one of them is with full cast. Terrible song for this type of show. And secondly, the show is centered around the female leads. I am super happy he'll be doing the one he is though! Still not sure how the audience members in costume fit into the staging. Video of a very young Ariana doing The Wizard and I. Let's just see if she can find the enunciation she used to have. youtu.be/gFi7_LFG7OASmall world, Ryan McCartan, Brad in Rocky Horror that Adam was in, is the current Fiyero on Broadway.
