Two things: First, Adam has been in the public eye for almost ten years since Idol. That's a pretty good run, in and of itself. I'm sure lots of singers have a couple of strong years and then fade off. Before Queen, he had successful solo tours, worldwide. Not huge arenas, but decent sized venues. Without Queen, he may have maintained some good momentum and would have been able to focus totally on his own music with continued success. We'll never know where he'd be now with that scenario. We DO know that he plans to put out his own music and perform it. Also, I said this before, but once again, I think that without his Queen cred, he may not have been offered the projects he has right now: XF, Wicked thing, Elvis thing, Playmobil, AFTRA/SAG, etc. QAL has raised his profile big-time. There are plenty of singers who would kill to be in his position. I’m not intending to single you our here but this thought seems to be a common conclusion here today in one form or another. I just have more confidence in Adam as a person, as a solo performer and as an artist to conclude he could not or would not have succeeded on his own merits. If that makes me an unhappy fan or a needy fan to board members here, so be it.

cleopatra: You make a very good point, and I sorta know where you are coming from.
My younger sister doesn't care for Adam. She is crazy for the musical "Wicked", tho. I sent her an article about the special they are filming with Adam participating. She texted back that she will probably watch it because she thinks that is the kind of music the suits Adam's voice. Upon reflection, I realized I agree with her. My very personal preference is to hear Adam singing musical theater, American standards, and jazz/blues.
Over the years, Adam has altered his voice to sound more compatible with rock and less like a classical singer. I find I miss that more pure, gentle, floating style he used to create some years ago. When I heard the beginning phrase of Adam singing "As Long As You're Mine" from the special, he belted out the G instead of floating it as he did ten years ago. Made me a little sad.
Those who do not care much for Queen still hold out hope that Adam's own music will be coming soon and will be more to their liking. Me, I can't even hold out hope that he will sing the kind of music I prefer in the style that resonates in my core. It is not that he can no longer do it, but that he doesn't want to. Sigh.
So I "settle" for Queen + Adam, pop Adam, club music Adam. I would rather hear that voice doing that style than not at all. But, I still revert to my playlist of early Adam recordings to fill my soul.

Well now we know the residency value to the casino. Total $7,454,170.00 46,868 tickets sold/ 48,600 seats available =1732 not sold
(av price per seat=159.00)Hmmm...does someone know how to read the ticket results. Appreciate some help wrapping my head around it. Why are the numbers I bolded in black showing such a different number of maximum seats, for the 19-22 ( 14,472) concerts and the 5-8 ( 14,621) concerts. Are they discounting the free complimentary seats???? Did they reduce seating for the last three concerts? (just my curiosity!!) Also what does the 3 bolded in pink mean in front of the $1,000. The other lines show a 0 (zero)

Also this article popped into my mind a couple of times today. In a way Queen saved Adam and Adam 'saved' Queen. They both needed eachother at that moment in time. www.theguardian.com/music/2018/jun/29/adam-lambert-now-theres-an-audience-for-me-being-exactly-who-i-amAdam Lambert: 'Now there’s an audience for me being exactly who I am' The fuss over his sexuality in 2009 highlights how attitudes have moved on in a decade. Ahead of a European tour with Queen, the singer looks back on prejudice and how he helped change pop ... The constant suggestion that Lambert was “too much” eventually got to him, and led to a pivot in his career. His second album, 2012’s Trespassing – which gave him the curious honour of being the first openly gay artist to reach No 1 on the Billboard album chart – was markedly more sombre, led by the dreary ballad Better Than I Know Myself. His preferred single choice, Cuckoo – a lithe electro-glam stomper – was dismissed by his now former label as “too flamboyant”. Later that year, having performed with Queen at the MTV Europe Music Awards, Lambert joined the band for a six-date tour. “I needed an outlet for me that wasn’t judging. I needed to be in a safe space that didn’t say to me: ‘Don’t do that, people won’t like that.’ Now there’s an audience for me being exactly who I am. There’s permission given.” His Queen sojourn was not meant to last this long (“It’s the gift that keeps on giving,” he laughs) and he says the early shows were “a mindfuck”. “I’ve figured out how to make those songs work for me. I’m not playing a part, I’m interpreting them from my viewpoint and a lot of what Freddie was exploring is stuff I’m exploring.” Does he worry it has sidelined his own career – going back to covering other people’s songs for a living? “No,” he says, slightly agitated. “No. I think I’ve managed to balance it. It’s two different worlds and two different ideas, but right now, I’m trying to get them to coexist.” Understandably, Lambert thinks about Freddie Mercury a lot, discussing with Queen bandmates Roger Taylor and Brian May what he’d have made of a new pop movement that’s seen a raft of queer artists break into the mainstream. “Roger was like: ‘I think he would be really open and upfront about it, because that’s what he was like to all of us.’ [His sexuality] was just taboo in the media. But he was very matter of fact once he’d come to terms with it. And from what I have ascertained, he was fully bisexual. He was dabbling everywhere. I think he was ahead of his time.” Also listen to what he has to say about how Queen influenced his 3rd album: FINALLY!
Confirmation in public of what I was told years ago. Adam's single pick was "Cuckoo." It was also my pick the first time I listened to Trespassing album.
I rarely engage in WhatIfs with Adam's career but I have often thought that "Cuckoo" would have been a Top 20 song for Adam if it was released and promoted as the lead single. Unfortunately, we cannot rewrite history and there was no chance RCA would have promoted it. So no point in wondering but I still do.
****
I think this interview really provides some insight into how Queen has benefited Adam beyond fame and fortune. It gave him a safe place and music that allowed him to perform in the way he wanted. It is as if Freddie, Brian, Roger and Queen fans have given him a real gift.
