All I want is the album to be successful enough to “guarantee” the tour... idk what that means in quantifiable terms, what chart positions or number of streams would bring the tour on... i know that historically I love all the songs written by Adam himself, he has the magic touch imo, and so Velvet is very promising to me... Ditto! Ditto! Ditto!
All we need is for Adam is to have one GT on Velvet and we are set.
And NE is too new to classify. We do not know if they are ever promoting this to radio.

Not quite sure how I should feel about the headlines that Adam is not intending to record with Queen. Mixed feelings, I think. On one hand it is probably a smart move on Adam's side as the comparisons would never stop, but on the other hand the thought of a recording together could have kept the excitement going. Ah well... The headlines come across as harsh almost. I am wondering why Adam decided to not leave the discussion open.

He has only performed it once on tv. A song by Adam without radio play is not going to stay high on the itunes charts. Same happened with FS and any of his other songs that were not released to radio. I agree that the song is stellar, but not so sure how the 70's vibe* is received by the general public when even some fans aren't fully on board. Within my family the song is much applauded, however the 70's fashion was less convincing for them. *edit: "vibe" meaning "look"

To translate this to audience...
Indeed, in the finals, Idol ended up topping the 2018 finale in viewers with 8.74 million while falling just shy in adults 18-49 with a 1.5.
The 1.5 rating in the demo means 1.5% of U.S. viewers ages 18-49 watched the broadcast. That is about 1.95 million people.
So a lot of people watched the Idol Finale, but most were under 18 or 50+ = not generally music buyers.
Teenagers only buy 12% of digital music. Most digital music is sold to adults over 45 years old.

Regarding NE, I believe this song has a market but I do not believe it is the country-oriented Idol audience. Look who won -- another country-tinged southern cute guy who would appeal to 13 year old girls in North Carolina or Georgia or Tennessee.
