I'm just popping in to say I love Superpower!! This past month I've been up to my eyeballs doing home renovations. I keep falling behind on the threads and even skipping large chunks which I hate doing because you never know when you might miss an interesting post! Hopefully, I'll have more time soon to play here. And kryptoman68 I can't believe your little S is almost four -- seems like yesterday that you mentioned her birth! |

That's what me me giggle when I saw the video the first time...all these conversations about the 70's long hair and he takes off his wig. He's obviously been listening to our conversations lol. And I agree, he looked delish today.
As somebody who did not enjoy the long hair/extensions/whatever era, that fake hair toss was very cathartic. LOL
The wig toss is such a "liberating" move!! |

I haven't seen it posted yet, but GREAT NEWS(!!) for those craving a ballad!!!! According to the Build interview there will be a ballad on side A of Velvet, amongst mostly groovy tunes. Adam said he had worked on it prior to being in his current relationship.

Knowing words when you read or hear them or writing them down when you can run both a spell check and dictionary lookup is different than using them in conversation. I don't find symbiotic to be an exotic word but people have difficulty using it in the right context for example. And even then with some words it's getting the correct pronunciation. I thought there was a higher level vocab word in there somewhere but I'd have to watch the vid again. True re active vs passive language... all I am saying is that to me Adam’s mastery of his native tongue sounds like a typical product of his educated middle class background...i.e. regular words used properly....nothing too spectacular, just normal ... am I living in some bubble? How bad is it out there?  I agree that there are words we recognize when reading. Others we understand in conversation. But a smaller subset of words we can commonly summon to express a concept in spontaneous speech. Take the word "symbiotic." When was the last time you heard someone use that word in conversation that was not related to biology/science? I cannot think of when I last heard it before Adam used it very casually in his BUILD conversation. As to living in a bubble? I venture to say "yes, you are." I have a masters degree and worked in higher education for many years. It gave me a skewed impression of the vocabulary level and degree of articulateness of the general population. But now that everyone is posting comments on social media and the like, I am shocked at the low level of vocabulary, grammar and spelling skills I see. No, Adam has not used words that I was unfamiliar with (well, except for slang and club lingo), but he has definitely used words I do not often hear in everyday conversation. |

Well, Build was a treat. Satisfying in so many ways. Right? I just finished watching the interview, and I think I could just listen to him for hours. Add to that the gorgeous face, a bit of chest hair lol, and those 30 minutes weren't nearly long enough. I love how he talks with his hands, and how passionate he is about his music, how he's not just in the business to be making money...he lives and breathes music. You can tell by how he described his sessions with Tommy English. Fascinating, and never boring. Love him to pieces. |
