I agree that he used a prominent vibrato. I hear it as a stylistic thing. He did it on Soaked in GNT as well. I think it evokes drama in high order. OTT. One can't do Freddy without super drama vocally and visually. The vibrato adds a type of sophistication, class, and a classical touch to my ears. Instead of the hard rock piercing wails. Freddy enjoyed adding classical references in his compositions. Lots of sophistication, musically. He also sometimes used a lot of vibrato. What is amazing about the performance (well, what isn't?) is how powerful Adam sounded, how fierce, how commanding, and yet, there was not a smidge of strain or stress in his voice. A very classical, legitimate sounding powerhouse, that somehow totally fit with Queen's classic rock. Hi cassie - to my ears it sounded like Adam used more vibrato than usual in this performance. I'm curious if you agree and if so, why do you think he chose to do that? To me it did seem like he was pushing it (maybe more in watching it than in just listening) and not something he'd want to do every day. Reminded me a bit of Time for Miracles where the producer pushed him more than he wanted. Here at least he could back off and put it where he wanted and of course for a measly three songs (ha) he could take it all the way to the end wailing as much as he wanted to. |

This tweet cracked me up because I could not figure out what the heck he was saying! Hmmm. Friday is 11/11/11. What is Katy Perry doing that day-- anyone know? And my (probably lame) interpretation of that tweet -- "native" as in Native American? And "how" is a stereotype of a Native American greeting. I don't know, but I'm sure it all made sense in his head  ;D ETA: I see that Katy is premiering her new vid for The One That Got Away on Ellen that day. Okay, back to knowing nothing :D |

OMG! Taking a break from berting at the moment and am watching Majors and Minors. And they previewed Adam's episode. It was a little different then the promo that was posted earlier. He was there telling them to own it and said that they sound fierce. And they announced that, this is "the mentor we were all been waiting for is almost here." Yay! more berting and flailing \0/!! W Whoa, how did you see it. I thought it was premiering on the 13th. How did you see it? Was it on tonight? Where can I see it? Crap, I'm always a day late and a dollar short. Crap Crap Crap!!!!!! No, it was just the promo for next week. Was saying they showed more in this promo then the one they posted earlier. |

When Adam sings full out I always get this picture of a kid riding a bicycle down a hill with no hands that feeling of thrill and faster faster wheeeeeeeeeeee look at what I can do. this has been an epic day of flail!!
Every thing about that performance/appearance was on point.
the one negative review from the UK is no big deal. The UK is notoriously nasty from what I remember, especially regarding american idols.
everyone else loved him! He did what we knew he could do, he wowed the world!
I do think the single is coming next week. Probably friday.....
