Adam Lambert has one of those multidimensional voices that really comes out with good acoustics. Listening the the HD you get more of it, and Live you get it even more.
i could listen to that HD version for ever ;D ;D ;D

Wow. That was a beautiful performance. I haven't been around as much, and my keeping up of all things Adam faded organically, but am so happy that Adam and Queen got to perform together. And I have to say that "The Show Must Go On" especially gave me chills. Am rewatching over and over and listening, and his voice sounds at his best. Loved the outfit (even with the less than attractive hair) it all came together nicely. Outfit second favorite to the Grammys one. Thanks to everyone for posting the links, mp3s, vids, tweets. You guys are awesome. OK, listening/watching one last time (or five) before sleep. Glad you de-lurked.

"RT @nilerodgers: Get down Adam- That was smoking - If Brian May reached out that's really saying a lot! Not many can hang with Queen-Bravo!" Have to de-lurk and want to thank you guys for the EPIC flailing and squeeing.. Got out of bed at 5am to watch MTV, only for Adam. So happy to see Niles was suitably impressed that Brian May might have reached out to Adam for this performance. 11.11.11 the age of Aquarius, bring on the new single. Glad you de-lurked.

Cassie
The vocals were amaaaazing. He used all his technique, all his knowledge of his body, and produced a sound that was strongly influenced by his classical training and background. It was much more than singing the right pitches, hitting the right notes. The sound evoked the power and finesse of an opera tenor, while modifying it to fit the classic rock numbers. His articulation was crystal clear. His attack, his subtle bending of notes and phrases gave the performance the emotions inherent in the songs.
He claimed the stage with his posture, his presence, his prowling. At the same time, his performance was in service to the tribute to Queen, never elevating himself above the song or the members of the band. He started his ethereal vocals in shadow, as if saying, "Who I am is not important. What I am singing, what we are creating, what we are paying homage to is key."
He threw the focus repeatedly to Brian May, encouraging him, acknowledging him, egging him on, enticing him onto the catwalk with him, leading him out front to his fans. He at once threw himself into the performance with total abandon and fearlessness, subsuming who he was into the greater total of what was being created. Yet, by doing that, and by doing it so masterfully, he was also being quintessentially himself. I do believe that only Adam Lambert could have accomplished that performance that night.
Adam has arrived. Adam has claimed his power and his place. It is magnificent to see and hear.
Cassie, I felt his arrival as well. There was something about the whole moment in time you know? MTV which i grew up with, the European location - where so much music i love comes from, the honouring of Queen, one the worlds best, Adam as a baby listening to them and singing songs like "the show must go on" in his childhood home...and now
this beautiful man
singing with someone so relaxed and powerful and talented as Brian May and the drummer.
I really noticed the mastery of the Queen band members (compared to Adam;s own crew which understandably dont have that level of mastery yet).
But Queen's mastery SUITED adam - he was born an Arabian racing out of the gate.
The Moment was Gorgeous.
