I wish Adam would put some of his new music on Tic toc. I love watching it and I'm not a kid.. I keep up with a lot of what's going on.. BTW L'LNas is a marketing genius. Just read his back story,he didn't even know anything but how to get fans and do whatever he wanted to do.. music just became a way to becoming famous... In three years he has the music industry eating out of his hands.. . Why because he's selling,he has loads of kids buying his music. If you make them money the suits will love you.. Montero figured it all out ,but he also has the goods to back him up.. Amazing times. His new album is really really good. HIs back story is amazing he used instagram,TikToc etc. on the internet.. to become known started by doing comedy skits, memes... A 17 year old working in his closet at home...It's a new world.I find the whole thing fascinating.. Hope you don't mind my sharing..

Your post says so much about maximizing the benefits of social media in every way possible. Adam does NOT do this nearly enough, IMO. He needs to do a LOT more. Old strategies do not work. Lil Nas et al know the value of all this. I think Adam needs to be much more aggressive with his social media presence. He's always just on the fringes unless he happens to be doing something major that gets a lot of press, like the Kennedy Honors or the Oscars, etc. And yes it has nothing to do with age. Brian May uses social media A LOT. Like every day. He keeps his fans connected.

Happy addressed the same issue on yesterday's thread. Social media, Tic Toc, etc. are the place to be.

Love the comparisons between Lil Nas X and Adam, when we're talking about a time difference of more than a decade, twitter was fairly new, and Adam was threatened with a law suit for the AMA performance. Can't imagine what would have happened if he had pulled a Montero performance at the AMA's. I'm betting Lil Nas X would have been a no-go back in 2009, whether he started out on Tik Tok or not (which, btw, wasn't around yet).
Different era, different culture, different artists.
I teared up when I listened to Adam describing his start in the music industry, and just feel so blessed that he didn't just throw in the towel. I would have missed out on 12 amazing years following him and listening to his music, whether solo or with Queen.

I would have missed out on 12 amazing years following him and listening to his music, whether solo or with Queen. I can't agree with you more! A lot of majors use Tik Tok to discover new talent and to sign them. Sorta like YouTube worked for Bieber and Mendez. Adam has been around too long and with much acclaim to need discovering. He has had lucrative headlining solo world tours and is the frontman for Queen. The major labels know who he is. Even talents that broke on social media needed a major label behind them to make it really work. Adam would look desperate if he tried to use antics and look at me tactics, in place of talent, at this stage of his career. It might hurt more than it would help. So unless Adam is put on the big streaming playlists and has a big label pushing him on radio, I don't see how more social media interactions would help him. It would help please fans that he already has but I would not want to bet a career on it. For him, time is likely better spent trying to be creative and looking for additional opportunities in the industry. His foundation and LGBT advocacy are important to him also and appreciated and beneficial to many. And engaging fans in ways that feel right to him. I think he is doing a great job taking advantage of the opportunities that do come his way. Would I love to hear him on the radio and riding high on the charts? Yes I would. But without a major pushing, that it is unlikely to happen, more social media interactions or not.
The timing for Adam was not great when he came on the scene. But trying to compare his time with what has happened with newer out artists today is not the same. When Adam started and was very popular, he did not get the SNL appearance to help push his career to the next level. I think many did not want to touch him after the AMA's. Since that time, SS, Troye, Frank Ocean and LNX have all had a chance to make themselves better known and more accepted by a performance there. Adam paid a price for being "too much" early on and a decade ago. Lesser talents would not have survived what he went thru at that time. And thankfully others are not paying that same price today.

All good points, lurleene. Adam was 26 when he was on Idol. He knew the clock was ticking. His fan demographic has never been a core teen following although he has had his share of younger fans. He was just too old on Idol for younger fans to "grow up with." Other artists get their breakthroughs in their late 20s, too, but a TV talent show carries a different vibe. Adam's age and sexuality were a combo that weren't suited to a lot of younger fans. He's got the talent for sure, and his fanbase is damn loyal. He's doing lots of different things with his career. Topping the charts may happen someday, too.
