Quick Adam story from school yesterday. I have some student-style music magazines lying out in my music classroom. Yesterday, I overheard a 5th grade boy saying something about "she's a great guitar player." Yup, that was the mag with Orianthi on the cover. So I butted in because I know this boy has liked Adam and his grandmother adores Adam. They listen to his music. The boy kind of wanted to sing WWFM at our talent show last spring but didn't dare. So I asked him if he knew "Sleepwalker" because Orianthi plays the big guitar solo. He was impressed and said that he loves Adam Lambert. I also must mention that this is a sort of tough boy who has been trying to work himself out of poor behavior (and succeeding). He's bigger, tougher, and a trend setter. Plus he likes to sing and is good at it. That make his music teacher very happy.

Hi everyone,
Been gone awhile w/o internet. Even though I lurk more than post, but I'm so glad to find you all here. Caught up w/the news. And you all looked so different but beautiful!!
Adam's looking great...I notice no new tatoos on that arm, wonder about the hidden arm. Someone should ask that lady in the picture if she saw any different on his arm.

Your post reminded me of the movie, "The Truman Show". Yeah, my mind goes strange places when I am bored. In the 1998 movie, Jim Carey plays a man who thinks he has a normal life, but it is really just an ongoing reality show. At the time it was released, we had not been flooded by hundreds of reality TV programs, and the concept seemed a little far out. But, now, it seems all too real.
There must be days when Adam feels he is Truman. Every trip to the grocery store, every dinner out, every word tweeted is circulated around the world within minutes. We hunt him down based on a picture of a burrito or the fact that a picture showed him standing in front of a travel poster. We freely offer him unsolicited opinions about his love life, his hair style, his clothes, his taste in music, his friends, his career, his investment strategies, his skin, his freckles..... ad infinitum and minutia.
In the movie, Truman could literally not leave town because the TV audience wanted, demanded to see his life 24/7. Is Adam's life so different from that? I don't mean to be critical of anyone, I want to know where Adam is and what he is doing every day as well. But, there are times when my perspective shifts and I think "Damn! Why don't they (and I) just leave the guy alone? How can anyone cope with that on a daily basis, long term?"
I know some people say that is the life of a celebrity in these times, and it comes with the territory. He knew that when he decided he wanted to be a star. Heck, even Adam has said that repeatedly. But there is a small voice in my head that asks, "When did we go over the line? When did we decide that we had the right to hunt down celebrities and dog them unmercifully? When did we determine that any individual pursuing their choice of career, or pursuing their dream should happily give up so much of their privacy?"
I am as addicted to Adam and Adam news as some of the most BSC fans. I admit it. But, in my saner moments I recognize I have no RIGHT to know the details of Adam's daily life and personal time. No right to seek out what he does not willingly and generously choose to share with us.
I don't have a solution to my addiction, much less anyone else's. Still, I think it is worth looking at what we do to the celebrities we love. Just saying. [/quote]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sorry...don't know what happened to that box.
Just scroll if this doesn't interest you..... I love the myriad ways this forum speaks to my RL in so many ways.
I love the Truman [play on words True Man] Show and use it in the Comm. Ethics class I teach. The film was a take-off on Plato's Myth of the Cave. It poked fun at all manner of assumptions and institutions from the celebrity factory to Christianity. ...the Director's name was Christos and when, at the end of the film, Truman comes to realize that his whole life is just an illusion...entertainment for his fans....Christo's voice 'booms' out of the heavens to warn him of the dire consequences of leaving the 'protected' world to face the great unknown.
There is now an official pschiatric syndrome known as the Truman Show Syndrom in which its sufferers have delusions of persecution and are sure they are being watched by everyone around them and they are really just part of some otherworldly television show! True...
When we discuss this in the class, we are referring to definitions of reality...idealism, materialism and dualism...and touch on the social construction of reality. I think this is Jim Carry's best work to date and a really great film. It is always a student favorite.
sorry for going so far OT.....well.....we were relating this to Adam and celebrity ??? ???

I've already watched 223,000 of them 50X each.
Mutual admiration society for avis - shev66, love your avi!
And cassie - for some reason I never saw The Truman Show. I wanted to but didn't & time passed & I forgot about it. I'm glad you brought it up as it is now on my list. And it's really a very good analogy for Adam's life since Idol.

Sauli appears to be extremely physically strong, confident, exuberant, animated, athletic. Certainly very different from Brad Bell and Drake who are both very fem. Maybe Sauli can get our favorite couch potato (usually a couch in a club) on a tread mill or even diving off cliffs? Yikes! Just looks to me that Sauli would be a whole hellofa lot of fun to hang out with. Then there are all the similarities btwn Sauli and Adam that just seem almost like Karma for these two gorgeous guys. Gotta be a BIG change for Adam from the West Hollywood gay scene he has hung out with for so long. Like a huge breath of fresh air. I wish I could recall the intervew Adam gave to one of the gay publications, where is is always more candid, and he said everyone in We Ho had slept with each other, and he was sick of the whole pretentious scene. Maybe another reason why he decided to go for broke on American Idol?

I'm bored. There's only so much to be said for the possibility (probability?) of Adam working with Ryan Tedder because we don't know if it's true. And even if true we don't know what's emerging from their sessions. I just know I'm happy. But I'm still a little bored so I thought I'd bring this over from another site. Not verbatim - just paraphrasing. An Adam fan lamented the fact that Adam has not done much lately and envied the Kris fans because he did some radio interview and has a performance scheduled in April. I mean WUT? Adam has been busier than the proverbial bee giving us so much - two recent TV appearances, Grammy nom., red carpets, Acoustic Live release, Aftermath for Trevor Project coming, Tour DVD coming. All this, not to mention the 112 full-set concerts around the world that ended just a short time ago. Crazy. Your post reminded me of the movie, "The Truman Show". Cassie, believe it or not, I have made that exact same Truman Show analogy to a friend in relation to the way we sometimes stan AFL. I don't have a solution to my addiction either nor would I want to tell anyone else how to stan but sometimes I do get a tiny bit perturbed and pull back a little. (Until a GB sighting or something else of monumental importance sets me off again. lol)
