kryptoman68 I missed your first post, so thanks for bringing it over to this thread. I can see why that sound caught your attention. I don't know much about music but I guess Spike is playing arpeggios. The high tinkling makes me think of a glass harmonica. pi I noticed the riffing had changed too. I thought it was to give Brian a break. I can't even imagine how his hands must feel on this tour ... but he is willing to do it again in Japan. Fingers crossed they all stay healthy!

Just a quick note that I posted a little audio file to illustrate the difference between TSMGO in the latest tour vs. previous performances for those who could not hear it here: adamtopia.com/post/1022278/threadIt contains mostly the guitar and keyboard track with the majority of vocals, drums, and bass removed. It plays the Live Around The World version first, then the San Francisco #2 concert recording captured from a YouTube video. Thanks kryptoman68 for going to all the trouble to show the comparison! I missed your reply in the previous post. It is much easier to hear it when listening side-by-side like this. It sounds fuller to my ears.. not sure if I'm describing it well.
About the riffing, I noticed that Brian no longer responds to Adam's individual riffs like he used to during this tour, but only joins in at the very end just before they all start singing the harmonies. Maybe it's a way for Brian to get a little break or it allows Adam to go on a longer woven riff without having to break them up. Thoughts?I think Adam found a specific sequence this leg of the tour that does not require a "duet" with the guitar to be effective. It also has some middle-eastern patterns that, given the current world situation, probably fit well with the general tone of the show Brian intended. My guess is that you are partially right that it gives Brian a bit of a break, but it also lets Adam shine. Knowing Brian's good nature, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the main reason...

I don't know much about music but I guess Spike is playing arpeggios. The high tinkling makes me think of a glass harmonica. I suspect that Spike is not really playing the actual arpeggios with his fingers, but has the keyboard programmed to do them when he plays the chord. If I am not mistaken, he recently posted a video of receiving the delivery of the latest KORG Nautilus model. (Edit: here it is) However even his previous KORG KRONOS he used since the beginning of QAL could do that already. Here is a video from the first 2012 QAL tour that is eye and ear-opening: youtu.be/bOKgS1G6riwNow watch around time code 1:30. Spike plays a bit of TSMGO, then goes into the IWTBF, and demonstrates the arpeggio feature! So he just holds down the chord, and the keyboard does the rest for him. ...Machines!...

kryptoman68 A souped up player piano! LOL Actually I wrote that comment before I watched the video. That KORG explains how five people can make so much complicated music while playing live!! I have wondered about that. And that was 2012. I expect he has upgraded since then!

kryptoman68 I do remember seeing that video. Fun to see it again and this time I noticed the probably custom made music holder featuring a crown.
