It may not seem like 2009 was all that long ago, but plenty has changed in the 15 intervening years. For starters, LGBTQ+ artists didn’t used to feel comfortable singing using their romantic interests’ pronouns. So, Adam Lambert decided to correct the record with a “HEmix” of his 2009 hit “Whataya Want From Me.” Along with bringing in White Shadow to update his classic power ballad with a crunchy EDM beat, Lambert updates one key lyric — instead of singing that “It messed me up/ Need a second to breathe,” the rock singer now declares that “he messed me up.” It might seem like a small update for 2024, but a two-letter word can make all the difference, as Lambert proves on this thrilling remix.

So I was a bit surprised that since he re-recorded WWFM he didn't switch it up even more, add a few runs etc like he would if he was singing it live. Since artists don't own their recordings when they do it for a label then I'm assuming he had to re-sing the entire song (and probably would for anything on his first 3 albums?). The interviewer that put up last year's discussion of the it/he played Pink's version too and they are just so much alike. But the it/he switch makes for good press and maybe they really wanted it to sound exactly the same as if it had come from the original tapes.

Adam was the first in 2012 Frank Ocean 2016 Sam Smith 2017 It was funny when Sam got his #1 his manager (?) said Adam and Sam were the first to achieve that honor. HA! There is only ONE first and it was Adam. But it was even funnier because Sam's people just overlooked poor Frank.

chel ☯️🤍 @hori7onacevinci Been a fan of Adam Lambert since American Idol and I feel so proud reading his spotify description. Beautiful description. Adam should be very proud of all that he has achieved despite those that would put him down. I wonder abut the 3 million albums. It seems his numbers are never updated. Surely, at this point it must be more than 3 million. I think when they show single sales they are still stuck on the 5 million. I feel/believe, it must be more than that.
