1 ADAM LAMBERT: OUT, LOUD & PROUDAn “exposing one-off documentary” where Grammy-nominated artist Adam Lambert opens up about his phenomenal music success and the barriers he’s faced as an openly gay man in the music industry. Speaking to some of the UK’s biggest pop icons from the LGBTQ+ community, the American Idol star and Queen frontman says, “LGBTQ+ representation has increased significantly over the last decade. It’s a pleasure to create a documentary exploring the intersection of music and Pride as well as embracing the impact some incredible LGBTQ+ artists have had on pop culture and the obstacles they’ve faced.” Well said.

Every time gay icons are mentioned I am confused. I was listening to a radio program that mentioned Freddie Mercury and Britney Spears but no Adam. thankfully, he is on this list. IMO, Adam is far more iconic that Freddie, but Freddie is mentioned 90% of the time and Adam maybe 5%. I don't understand how FM is a gay icon. He came out the day before he passed. Yes, of course, evryone knew it - but how is that iconic. He was a genius, yes, not dismissing his talent, but I don't understand the gay icon tag. As far as I know he did nothing to advance the LGBTQ+ community. Adam has done and continues to do so much. As someone yesterday said, it is not just the music that attracts us to him. I guess it just bothers me that I rarely see him mentioned and feel that he should always be mentioned as a gay icon. He has opened many doors for others.

Adam is fearless about his identity. And he gets bolder as he gets older. I definitely think he is in the "icon" category whether he is always mentioned or not. He will always be there and will likely get closer to the top of the list as time goes on.
I responded to a late post yesterday about the trajectory of big stars' careers. Adam isn't alone when it coming trying to stay visible and relevant after being around for a long time. New stars emerge every day and take over the highest levels. Gaga, JLo, Madonna, Katy Perry, and on and on, simply have to reinvent themselves in a new way. Some of us may get weary of the Pride thing, but it keeps Adam in the media and gives him more chances to perform. He is diversifying quite well with all the things he gets involved in. And he gets respect for all of them.
