quackn I don’t think that everyone is “all over Adam”. Some folks here are very happy following along, while others have opinions. I am the latter. Saw the interview with Brian posted and got excited but realized it was 5 years old. So I had some thoughts. Sometimes I revise my opinions or reset a bit if I feel like I may have overreacted or over interpreted. This brings up another topic for me… Is it okay to be critical of someone who you have been following, if only on a fan site? Where do we draw the line?

We have been giving our opinions of everything Adam (good and bad) for 15 years. It is not going to change now, lol. But I will try not to think about or comment on "Afters" ever again. HA. But I hope it works out for Adam.

I think it's just that, in general, a lot of fans aren't happy about Afters...me included. Don't plan on buying it, and haven't listened to any of the songs. That's ok. Adam has give us 5 albums that I do like, that I've bought, and that I do listen to so it's all good. Hoping for different music for the next era though lol. EDM type music gives me a headache.
Looking forward, one way or the other, to finding out if there's any truth to the Cabaret rumor. And hope that we get to see some of The Voice episodes. I'm sure there'll be more happening for the rest of the year, and if not, real life has plenty to offer...not all of it positive unfortunately.

I also do not think people are “all over” Adam because they express an opinion that isn’t only praising him or being neutral. I used to follow one more celebrity fan-site, and something came up that painted the frontman in a very negative light, and some people were trying to turn from the topic, while some were going so far as to sweep it under the rug. To be clear, I’m not saying that anyone here is trying to sweep anything under the rug. I have never forgotten, however, that a prolific, fair-minded member commented, “Is this a fan site or a fawning site”?
I also hope Adam will perform on Broadway in “Cabaret”. He will be so perfect 🤩

It's one thing to be disappointed in a project of Adam's, or not care for sentiments he expresses in an interview, or something like that. That should be allowed, no question. However, I do think some of the comments, particularly over the past couple of days, have veered into some pretty ugly insinuations about Adam, as well as of Oliver and his relationship with Adam. To me, that's more problematic. However, I'm not a moderator, so I'll just scroll and go on with my life.
I do agree this era feels a lot different, and not always in good ways. I would love to give Adam a dose of truth serum and get him to discuss where he sees his career going forward. When he first came on the scene, he just wanted to sing, not be a torch bearer for the LGBTQ+ movement. He wanted to be a singer who happened to be gay, not a gay singer. I don't think that's the case now, and that's a shift he has all the right in the world to make. However, I get the sense that at least when it comes to his music, he may be heading into "niche" territory for more than just this EP. I hope that's not the case, but if it is, I hope he'll continue to get other opportunities to share his gifts with people outside his community, especially the ones who have supported him so passionately for so long. I very much doubt he wants to make his longtime fans feel unappreciated, but it would surprise me if that weren't the case for some. That, more than an EP that doesn't appeal to me, makes me sad.

Adam's comment about being performative..... of course he is. Most singers/actors are. If they have any flexibility, versatility, and talent. They may prefer certain types/genres of music or theater, but a job is a job, and their task is to entertain and please the audience.
We say a gay actor should not be limited to only gay parts and vice versa. A singer may sing about a heartache they never experienced or may sing show tunes when they never have seen the show in a theater. Or may sing a religious Christian mass when they are Jewish or atheist. One of the things Adam has been praised for is the way he immerses himself in the lyrics and makes you feeeeel the heart of the song. The fact that he is "performative" is one of his many strengths.

As for recognizinh Songs...Kelly Clarkson didnt recognize the Intro to since you been gone and Anne Hathaway started singing First. IT was a competition Game. I do think that the rise of homophobia that is occuring in the right wing Shift in many Western countries is stiring Adam. I remember getting the impression that Adam was quite unsettled by the Pulse night Club Shooting 2016. Speaking of: youtu.be/9C6DPHosZZg?si=YIRns_zLgZh595kV
