Adam Lambert says he and the members of Queen haven't discussed the possibility of playing dates in the U.S.
"It's just that one date at Sonisphere and the warm-up gig in Russia," Adam said Friday at a radio-station event in Nashville. The two acts are playing together June 30 in Moscow and July 7 in England, with Lambert filling the frontman spot left vacant by the Freddie Mercury's death in 1991.
"Maybe we'll be able to do, like, a special night somewhere here, I don't know," he said during an interview with 107.5 The River on-air personality Intern Adam. "But there's no plan. There hasn't even been talk of that, so don't get your hopes up."
Adam says he'll do a lot of rehearsing with the band before those shows. "I've got my work cut out for me," he says. "I know the songs, but I don't know them all by heart, so I'm going to have to practice. But it's going to totally fun. I'm going to learn a lot from it, I think."
Adam doesn't look at his role in the shows as replacing Mercury.
"I'm there to sing music that he and the band wrote," he says. "It's not about imitation. It's not about doing an impression. It's, like, doing it my way in a way that, in my head, he would like. And Brian (May) and Roger (Taylor) are there to give me the green light or the red light."
Nor will he being trying to mimic Mercury.
"I'm not a mimicker," he says. "I'm my own artist. But he has inspired me. Hopefully, it will come from a deep, organic place. But I'm not growing a mustache. I won't be singing the songs with a British accent. ... I don't want to disrespect his memory and his legacy by getting up there and goofing on it."
Plus, he adds, "I can't wait to find out what my outfit is."
The two Adams talked about the recently replaced stage at the Ryman Auditorium, where Adam performed on his tour in 2010 and what might have happened to its "historic wood."
Adam also gave a plug to Kris Allen's The Vision of Love. "Have you heard his new song?" he asked. "It's really good. It just came out; it's happening."
Adam performed two songs -- Better Than I Know Myself and Whataya Want From Me -- during the event, which was attended by several contest winners. He addressed several other topics during the interview and a Q&A session with the audience.
Trespassingis still coming out in "Maypril": "It's a new month on the Adam calendar, somewhere between April and May. ... I've been working so hard all year on this album. ... I'm sorry that it has taken so long. It's me being a perfectionist, but it's also the logistics of record labels. There are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes that you guys would probably think is so ridiculous. It's the way it is; it's the business."
On the three new songs he performed Thursday in Atlanta: "Wait till you hear the tracks. My mom sent me the YouTube videos. I listened to them, and you can't hear all the tracks we've been working so hard on, so that it gets on radio and turns into a big, worldwide hit." He wrote Cuckoo with Bonnie McKee, who has also written with Katy Perry and Britney Spears. "It's about embracing how crazy I really am, just celebrating your lunacy. Enjoying being a nutbag."
TheBetter Than I Know Myselfvideo: "I think we all have, to some degree, a light-and-dark dichotomy in our lives. Even if it's just one day you wake up and you're in a positive, happy mood; one day you're in a crappy mood. It's a simple as that. I wanted the video to be symbolic of the two sides of the personality. ... For me, in my own head, I have a dialogue with myself in certain moments -- certain decisions, in a relationship, my life or career, looking in a mirror -- we all have things that go on in our heads. Sometimes, that negative voice is the one we need to learn how to shut off. But what the video says is you kind of have to have one and the other get along with each other in order to have a complete personality. 'Course, there is something kind of cool about the dark side, too. Something a little sexy and powerful about the dark side. Plus, he's got fierce shoulder pads."
To a woman who said Adam's example has inspired her to laugh at the people who hate her: "Yeah, screw them.
"If you're in a place where people are being mean to you, or you feel like an outsider and unaccepted, sometimes it's hard to change it. But there are things we can do as people, even if you can't leave the city. ... It's mind over matter, some of the time. You've got to get involved in some activity where you meet people like you. There are ways to deal and find your place."
On Bruno Mars: "My style is a lot different than his, obviously, but I just think he's so amazing as a singer and as a writer."
Advice for a singer preparing to audition forThe Voice: "Do have you your song picked out yet? Pick a song that's by a group or an artist that you are similar to. ... Seeing an artist, then hearing their voice and imagining what they can do is difficult for a lot of people. They have to be able to immediately put you in a box and compare you and say, 'He's country, he's rock, he's this or that.' It's very black or white when music-business people first see you. So make it really easy for them."

"American Idol" alum Adam Lambert stopped by Cobalt unannounced Saturday night and ended up taking over the deejay booth and playing four songs off his upcoming album "Trespassing." We're told that Lambert, with his boyfriend and a member of his band in tow, had several drinks downstairs and, chatting with club management, agreed to debut a few new songs that he had stored on his iPhone. (Making the gay bar the first in the country to play the tracks). Lambert manned the deejay booth and gladly posed for pictures with fans, though bounced once it started getting a little crazy. "He was super humble and nice," a source at the club told Yeas & Nays. Lambert is making his way through D.C. this week, performing acoustic sets for several local radio stations.

Fan Video Adam Lambert - NEW ALBUM Trespassing - PROMO Uploaded by glamguese on Mar 11, 2012 So, this is a little vid that I made, promoting Adam Lambert's new album, Trespassing, that will drop in Mapril* 2012. I did it for "your entertainment", not only with some new Adam stuff (like the new single, Better Than I Know Myself), but also with some GNT moments.... hope you all like it
-My name is Lev and we're Love Radio, which basically means we're in charge of the feeling called love. What does that word mean to you?
- Love to me is, well I don't even know, love is trust, conversations, happiness.
- If you know the word love so well, then have you ever felt that way yourself and how many times do you fall in love?
- I've definitely fallen in love and I feel it everyday.
- Have you ever done something crazy because of love?
- Absolutely. I think we've all experienced that and I have too. We've all fallen in love and gone crazy over someone who doesn't feel the same way and that just drives you insane.
- Can you tell us more about it?
- A couple of years ago, a couple of times with a few people.
- We all have different opinions about what we call crazy. How would you describe it?
- Well, in my case I was sad for a long time but I wouldn't say I did something crazy. I just felt really burned out.
- So for you crazy means feeling sad over somebody?
- I would say it means being obsessed with somebody.
- If you fall in love tomorrow, what would you do to impress that person?
- Well, I'm currently in a relationship, I'm in love and it's wonderful, so I don't have to impress anyone. I'll just continue being in a relationship and expressing my love.
- I know you've been in Russia before, you came here last year, what do you think about our country now?
- It was really cool, I got to meet my fans. They were waiting for me at my hotel and at my concerts so it was really great that I got to speak with them, get to know them and look at their faces. I really like the Russian language and the way it sounds, it was really nice to hear it everywhere. I had a nice couple of days.
- Do you agree with the stereotypes, that it's really cold here, vodka, bears everywhere?
- No, I was there in the summer. Vodka wasn't included in my plans, I went shopping and it was great, so Russia for me is gorgeous streets, beautiful people with shopping bags in their hands.
- It's great that you liked it here.
- I really did! I wish I had had more time but it was a short trip.
- I bet there are a lot of people who would like to invite you to their homes.
- That would be great!
- We know that you have become the new member of the legendary Queen. Do you already feel responsibility? You're the new Freddie Mercury. What's going to happen to your own career?
- Well yeah, that's not entirely true. We've had a couple of conversations about having a few gigs in the future but we haven't confirmed anything yet. It would be great if I could perform with them again. We've already performed together once in the AMA's. We had a great time and we decided to do it again.
This year is going to be very work-filled because I'll be releasing my new album called Trespassing and it's my first priority, but I'd love to perform with them again. Working with them is a chance for me to sing with them again, not join the band.
- So you're not gonna try to "blend in" with the band?
- No, not all. I don't feel that much responsibility in performing with them. I love Freddie Mercury and the point is not to become the new him but give respect to this band and their music. I'm not going to copy him.
- You're going to release a new album after a short break. How is it different from the first one that is called For Your Entertainment?
- It sounds different. There are some dance tracks on it but I've also kept my love for rock. One half of the album makes you want to dance, Michael Jackson and Prince inspired me, the people that I used to listen to when I was a kid. The other half of the album is sad and dark and I was inspired by Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode so I think the album is a nice combination of different sounds.
- Your new album and music video show that you've grown up and got more serious. Do you agree with that?
- There are tracks on the album that are not serious at all, but all in all it shows that I've grown and that I'm progressing. I'm just happy I can release another album, I loved making it, I recorded and helped with most of the tracks because they were coming from me. After touring for two years, I've finally come to that point where I can express myself more. I'm very happy that my fans were there for me so I just had to give them a ticket to trespass into my life.
- Well in that case, the name of your album is just great.
- I know!
- Adam, here in Russia we say that by the age 30, a man has built a house, planted a tree and had a baby. You recently turned 30. What have you already accomplished out of these three?
- I haven't built a house yet, but I'm renting one and I love it. I've decorated it so I can say I've practically built it. I haven't planted a tree but I definitely water some, and my baby is my album - I've worked on it for almost a year now, I take care of it and I'm going to show it to the whole world so yeah, it's like a baby.
- Lots of our listeners right now are your fans. What would you like to say to them?
- I want to thank you all so much, for supporting me and requesting my songs on radios and on television and everywhere. My new album is coming out and I won't disappoint you. So get ready, I can't wait to give you my new music.

I'm hoping video of this surfaces! LOL! From moxie4ever at IDF:
I wanted to share something funny Adam said at 107.3. One of the questions he did answer was about the stangest things fans have asked him to sign. He answered "body parts" and then went on to joke that some of those "down there" tend to get "sweaty" so the "ink does not stay on"...the woman who asked had a child with her and moved to cover his ears when he said "down there." Adam was looking right at her so he said "I know there is a kid here....I was talking about feet!!!" and he said it with a smirk so everyone cracked up....I was hoping it was caught on video but have not seen any that have that part yet... via mmadamimadamm (@mmadamimadamm)
I’m barging into the thread out of order because someone tweeted me that my video was posted on ATOP a couple of hours ago.
I just wanted you to know it was mine. I took it at Adam’s 107.3 Fresh FM radio promo held at Gibson’s on Monday, last week.
I had a camera glitch and it defaulted to VLC, so I had to convert it to MP4. and remember how to upload to Youtube. Robinny uploaded OOL for me in Ste Agathe, and I couldn’t remember how to do it at first.
Anyway, there are already so many BTIKM vids out there, that I didn’t want to spam here. I like my vid because Gibson’s stage was bathed in natural light, and Adam looks very natural. FWIW, the sound is “authentic” from my camera.
I'm a "vocals" person, and really wanted to hear Adam close up, in a small room, just once. It was worth the many hours of listening to the radio, phoning, Facebook liking to hear him that way. I didn’t even win a ticket in the end, but another Glambert took me as her +1.
A bonus was that I was one of the five people without tickets who was let into the Hamilton Nightclub (94.7FM) that evening at the last moment. And afterwards, as Hoppers, Shufly and RJacksPF have written, Tommy McFly was great to talk to at dinner. What a day!
Kanadie is going to Moscow? Wow! Who else is going? I'm weeks behind in my Adam stanning on Atop, so out of the loop. We're planning super party in the Knebworth meet-up thread, though.

It was a rock-star reception on Monday evening when American Idol alum Adam Lambert hit the stage at brand new hot spot, The Hamilton, for a short private concert for the listeners of 94.7 Fresh FM.
Lambert fans came in throngs showing their support for the rocker who was in town to promote his newest album.
Whew.... So sorry for the delayed post after last nights promo event at the Hamilton and Fresh 94.7 FM. My mind was mush last night and the whole thing is a blur, but I'll give it a shot. Let me preface by saying this is the first meet-and-greet I have been too. I just don't feel comfortable with the whole concept, but after so many adam shows and so many squees over how amazing he is up close and personal, I just had to go. I've been to many shows - Gridlock, Fantasy Springs, Leno, and a bunch of GNT shows. Just never a meet and greet. Not my thing, but this was such a golden opportunity that I couldn't pass it up.
They told us to be at the venue NLT 6:00 pm, so I left work at 5:00 and got there earlier than expected at 5:15 (yay for good traffic karma!!). There was a queue of people outside on the sidewalk and plenty of security and radio peeps around. Hoppers & Rjacks were not there yet, and I didn't want to stand in the line on the sidewalk, so I checked in, got my wristband, and then went inside to the bar and had a couple of drinks while I studied the crowd outside and listened to the conversations at the bar. There was a group of 4 businessmen sitting next time me puzzling over WTF was happening outside. The bartender told them it was for Adam Lambert, and 3 out of 4 knew who he was - you know, the guy who won American Idol :-)))). I talked to them for a bit about Adam and they seemed appreciative and marveled at his big crowd of fans out on the sidewalk.
There were about 50 or 60 people there - mixed crowd, but 80% female and most over 30yrs old. The usual mix :-)
Hoppers FINALLY arrived after her traffic drama - just as the last of the group was heading down the stairs to the venue (it is now around 6:30). Before we went downstairs I introduced myself to Tommy McFly - who I have been talking to and tweeting for about 3 years now. He is one of the good guys. Only 25 years old, but so respectful of the fans and he's smart and cute. My fave. Hoppers already told you about the conversation we had with him in our booth afterwards at dinner. Very interesting!!
So once downstairs, we sat at a table right up front with RJACKS and others who I don't know their ATOP names. Tommy talked on stage for a bit and then Adam and Tommy came out and went right into singing BTIKM which sounded AMAZING! He looked beautiful and it was like being in a dream!! Tommy's guitar work sounded fine. Honestly I don't really pay that much attention to the accompanyment in these acoustic songs, and (ducks) think that Monte sounded better than both Tommy and Kevin.
Once BTIM was done, Tommy McFly came out on stage and conducted his conversation /interview and I'm sure most have already seen that on-line. It was cute and fun. Adam definitely noticed repeat customers in the audience and when he asked who had already seen him that day, more than half raised their hands. TommyJoe did seem very bored during this time and I noticed him yawning a lot, lol. There was no Q&A from the audience and the crowd was quieter than I expected. Maybe burnout from most of them being at 2 shows preceeding this one. Then Adam sang WWFM and even though I've herad it a million times, it sounded amazing and emotional and perfect.!!
Then it was over and everyone got in a line and waited for their turn at pics. Hoppers and I didn't want a pic so we plotted on how we would spend out time with Adam. She had the Acousic Live CD and a sharpie and all I wanted was a hug. She went first and got the autograph and then me and my hug and then we talked Queen and Soniphere. I asked him how he was possibly going to get ready for the show with all of the songs/lyrics and teased him about lyric fail. He said that he had about 10 days in June planned for rehearsal and knew that he had a lot of work ahead of him but wasn't worried about it. I can't really remember what we said after that because we were being rushed out. I started to walk away, but then his gravity pulled me back and I said, awwww, can i have another hug. I figured he'd think I was a complete freak, but instead he just smiled and said of course and wrapped his arms around me and we squeezed each other tight, and then it was over. Big sigh.....
We all went upstairs after that and had dinner and Tommy McFly came to our booth and sat down and we had the wonderful conversation that Hoppers talked about. He's a good guy.
What a wonderful evening!! And can I just say that Glamberts Rule!! Everyone was so sweet and gracious. And Hoppers and Rjacks ROCK, as well as Spardu and everyone else!!!!
Well, that's it. Probably the only time I will do that. But what a wonderful memory!!
Traded a "no picture" request for TWO hugs AND and a ~super sneaky autograph of my red-spined, 1st edition, Acoustic Live CD !!!
[grins evily] * Fresh FM girl: "No autographs allowed - we have pre-printed pics for you" * Me: [thinks fast] 'My first and maybe only meet-n-greet....gonna try.....' * [holds CD next to coat, with pen already uncapped] * [grins at Adam, bats eyelashes, "This is my first time meeting you EVER [quietly shows off CD] Pleeeeeeze!" * [Adam grins, opens up DC, pulls cover out of jewel case and signs actual cover] * [gets my SECOND hug, and then both schufly and I talk to him about Sonisphere for waaaay past our alloted time!]
BTW - Was sitting in a swank table up front (THANK YOU RJACKS for saving us seats while I was caught behind a stupid car accident on the George Washington Parkway and completely freaking out that I was going to miss the whole thing).
Both Adam (and Tommy's accompaniment) sounded absolutely gorgeous.
[grin] And I *do* have a good ear and was sitting about 10 feet away from them both. Video recording does neither of them justice.
BTW - While eating a post-Adam dinner with schufly, rjacks, spardu, and others, the 94.7 DJ, Tommy McFly, came by and sat with us for about a half-hour.
LOL this is all very well and good BUT DID YOU SMELL HIM?? :D
[giggles]
Ok - I have a good ear. I don't have a good sense of smell (too many years of sniffing acetone while cleaning university glassware, plus I'm wired a bit oddly).
He smelled.....guy-like. [shrugs]
ETA: Maybe the cologne wore off by that time of the evening. [grins] Maybe I just can't tell. But honestly, he didn't smell particularly like anything.
Just give us the most important tid bit to tie us over until you have time to write a loooong post detailing it all.
Ok - I'm being pulled in way too many directions right now, so here's the CliffNotes version (will try to add more nuanced detail later)
Topic: Major city adds: * Major cities have major $$$ in advertising dollars - small drops in listeners = large revenue drops * Most large cities will ONLY play "sure things" * The smaller cities are those who can afford to take risks with new music as there is less revenue to lose. * Washington DC WILL ALWAYS look at the smaller markets (along with Z100) to make add decisions * The three big DC stations (107.3, 99.5, 94.7) do not use the same criteria for adds. * 94.7 is looking for ways to distinguish themselves from 107.3 and 99.5, are extremely aware at what competitors (and markets like New York and Baltimore) are playing * (Hint, hint) "Organically" liked songs always start from the smaller markets
Topic: Adam * Extremely talented * Nice guy
Topic: Adam fandom * Impressively knowledgeable (radio workings/numbers) * Extremely organized * Loyal * the fansites' reach and organization [bows] are a source of impressed amazement (at least to McFly)
Topic: Odds-n-ends * Tommy McFly is respectfully impressed with Adam's fanbase * He is impressed with Adam * Did not know about charities * Did not comment specifically about BTIKM (but we didn't ask him directly either) * Did not comment specifically about upcoming singles (but we didn't ask him directly either) * McFly is really young for his position, knows his stuff, and is a self-admitted radio geek. Was mentored by Jack Diamond (@ 107.3), but is now striking on own (@94.7) with creative choices and a supportive mangement even for non-traditional decisions. Will be veeery interesting to see what develops.
Ok - those be the highlights. ;D
ETA: Oh, forgot to add...
Topic: Song likability (ex. Gaga) * Artists with a track record will always get immediate adds * However, the radio stations WILL track likability via requests and tweets * Gaga's "You and I" was pulled quickly due to lack of listener support * HSM takeaway - requests count!!!!
Gah - McFly also said something important about Aribtron, but I'm forgetting the context....
