Where is this quote from? I think there was a scan of the magazine, but I couldn't read it. It seemed that Adam was extra-revealing and I was hoping someone would post a better scan, or another link to read it. Did I miss it? It's not a scan. Somehow, that article slamming Brian and Queen for still being alive and kicking didn't infuriate me. It amused me. Like our grandparents waxing on about how things just aren't the same as they were. Kids these days don't appreciate ______, there's no respect for ______, when I was young ________, no one can sing/play like _______.
His statement about guitarists was patently absurd. So, absurd that I could almost imagine the article was a parody of the Freddie purist protests, meant to be ironic and sarcastic. As far as what he said about Adam, his complaint seemed to be that Adam had no credibility because he is a newcomer from a reality show. No comment about his vocal ability or stage presence. I doubt that the author did any research into Adam or listened to anything except, possibly, WWFM.
I think that none of the readers is going to say, "Well, I thought I would go to the concert, but, after reading this, I will just stay home and listen to old Queen records on my record player." I imagine the response will vary from "That is ridiculous! I want to hear that music from Brian and Roger again, live," to "He may be right. It may be a train wreck. But, I LIKE train wrecks. I gotta check this concert out."
On balance, I think the article will provoke more discussion about Queen and about Adam and about Adam with Queen. More interest in the concert. More interest in who this your whipper-snapper, Adam Lambert is. More hits on YT. Ultimately, it works in their favor.

Tell me what I'm feeling when Jimmy Page or Brian May or Jimmy Hendrix or B B King or Santana or Gary Moore, to name just a few, because Oh lord I looooove guitar solos, and the feeling I have is like their guitar is talking to me, crying, laughing, being angry. Sorry you know shit about music. I'd love to hear Keith Richard's comment on this BS. |
