I'm not disappointed - at ALL. I'm happy and proud that Adam is showcasing his new material to radio stations all over AND to gay-dance club circuits AND to whoever /wherever in order to "move product" (didn't he say that phrase or get asked a question with that phrase somewhere?). He's going at this from all the angles, so to speak! I hope this year, this tour, Adam won't need to ask "where are the boys?" after he thanks his "ladies" 'cuz there'll be more boys there for him, too. It's all good, IMO - ALL good! ALL GOOD!! (IMO) Bring on the happy, circling, hand-holding ring of smiley's![/b][/color] Here you go, Bridget!

People people people EVERY HUGE POP DIVA has made their careers of the back of the gay community. Cher, Madonna, yes even Britney, Gaga, Katy. One of the things that I think has hurt Adam has been the lack of acceptance by the Gay Community. They are the trendsetters and the tastemakers most of the time. Even U2 owe a lot of their initial success in the US to the Gay Community. I think they stayed away from the Gay community originally to avoid being pigeon holed as a Gay artist but now he really needs them on board. Most of the media has moved away from the openly gay tag and he has shown himself competitive in the mainstream market but he if he wants to be a really big Pop Star he does need to get the dance clubs on board and that means the Gay dance clubs as well. He has already shown that his music is not just "gay" music. THIS. Totally agree. Me too!! Adam AND DMG know very damn well that gay media isn't a pigeonhole, it's can be an ace-in-the-hole. It's an niche IN ADDITION TO being a mainstream artist and nothing for anyone to look down their nose upon. The mainstream media will have tons of interest in Adam. I fear that not one little bit. They cover him constantly. Hell, Brian Mansfield has changed his Twitter avatar to a photo of him and Adam. Of all the COUNTLESS radio stations Adam has been to in the last few weeks maybe two were gay stations? Gaga would (and DID) work that angle and Adam should (and appears to be) embracing his connection with the GLBTQ community. He has messaged VERY CLEARLY that he is an out mainstream artist who has no hangups about discussing his sexuality, but it is only a part of who he is as an artist and a person. To judge the gay media as somehow not relevant is minimizing the growing power it has in popular culture. FAULT is not a gay publication, btw.

I just did not realize that there is "segregation" in the media... it would not occur to me that there would be a separate listening party ... it somehow feels ridiculous to me...

Let me say i will be disappointed too if the "only" promo DMG does is with gay media. I do not want to have him confined to the gay ghetto. But I do think that gay support is necessary for anyone aspiring to mainstream pop stardom, and Adam has to get more support from gay men than he has had in the past. (There's never been a problem with gay women.) As long as he gets on the cover of People magazine, I will not fault the media strategy. But if the only cover he gets is The Advocate, that would be a problem. Heathcliff, I find it very interesting that Adam doesn't have gay men as fans. I used to live in LA & we were always following Idol & everyone knew who Adam was. Of course all the females loved him. When FYE came out, I asked several of my gay male friends what they thought about Adam's new record, and every one of them gave me the "eye roll". EXACTLY like what Adam has talked about. They admitted that Adam was "ok" but didn't seem to support his music AT ALL. I know they were all huge fans of the female divas (Christina & Gaga & Katy) but they sure didn't show any interest in Adam. I would have expected some kind of support, especially since he was an LA "home boy". I wondered if Adam just wasn't their "type" or if they were just being jealous bitches. I would love to hear your thoughts about this. During Season 8 Kris Allen had huge support within the Gay Community because looks wise he is basically Gay Catnip. Some of the most horrendous nasty comment I read about Adam's appearance were on Gay websites. They didn't want a "flamboyant queen" representing them. They were pissed that he didn't scream "I'm Gay" to the press during Idol. Pissed that he didn't want to be a role model even though they didn't seem to WANT him as a role model. I think he actually needed to keep his distance from Gay Media in the FYE era so that mainstream media could work their was past the gay thing which the honestly have for the most part. Most of the openly gay comments are now only in Gay media which is as it should be because they should be because he needs to show visibility in his own community. This time around though he really does need to mend fences with Gay media and get them on board. If anything Gay Media exalts straight artist who support the Gay Community so it's only fitting that they should support an actual Gay Artist who supports the Community as well. Oops, forgot Gaga is supposed to be Bi.

Chris Crocker came to fame with the "Don't be mean to Britney" yt vid, right? And did he go on to . . . adult film work? Or am I completely wrong (and, if I am, I wonder how the hell I came up with that?!) and should I just go google? (What's "doc" - "documentary"?)
Oh, dear - the adult film thing (according to WIKI - I googled) was a RUMOR. And now I feel like I maligned him!

Just a comment on the Listening Party
Major station PDs do not go to listening parties -- and the important NY PDs have already heard the album tracks.
Major print media do not go to listening parties -- they get interviews.
Listening parties like this are rare so we can only guess what they are up to.
Artists sometimes have private listening parties before an album drops -- and often include some fans -- so I have one thought. My guess -- this entire promo tour and tonight's listening party was scheduled by RCA to support the album release on 3/20/12. And the plan was in place before they pushed the release date to Maypril.
That said -- one surprising thing [well maybe not that surprising, but so good] is how Adam has made this whole thing into a big win.
ETA: I am hearing album push was to get all of the big markets in EU on board -- all except France. May be a bogus rumor because there are many rumors but it fits what we know and the bits Adam has mentioned about "logistics".
