As far as the VH1 countdown, I think a lot of people got caught up in that MTV Music Madness poll, which I didn't quite understand. Was winning that poll supposed to really help Adam anyway? Just seemed like a waste as compared to polls that actually earn spins for BTIKM or voting to keep the music vid on VH1 countdown. Some of these stupid polls are just a mind-boggling waste of time to me unless it earns some sort of airplay for Adam.
And if RCA is disapponted in sales, well...the fans and Adam have done everything they can, from fans requesting and Adam working his butt off doing radio promo. Considering the promo I see coming from other labels (TV commercials, sponsoring trips for radio stations, etc.), RCA has no one to blame but themselves when sales should be higher for a lot of their artists than they are. Jimmy Iovine and Interscope have some of the most aggressive promotion I've ever seen. Rihanna's label were also sponsoring a lot of trips this past year for radio station contests. I don't hear of RCA doing any of that. Makes me wonder what heights Adam could reach if he were with a label like Interscope.

I just think RCA probably has REALLY low expectations for TVOL and KA. His fan base is obviously pretty small.

I agree with you completely about the time spent on polls that do nothing to gain Adam spins or higher visibility. But the VH1 countdown is based or much more than just votes. I think most fans (if they were like me) were voting every day as much as was allowed. It wasn't the lack of votes that caused BTIKM to drop off the CD as much as lack of radio spins, low sales and lack of RCA support.
I seem to remember promotional trips to see Kelly announced on my radio station. Can't back it up but I'm pretty sure of it.
As far as TK goes I wouldn't believe a single thing he has to say. Someone should tweet him & ask if RCA is "disappointed in sales" for KA. But really, why bother?

tigerlily, I was looking for some info in the numbers thread here this morning and ended up reading posts from back in February when BTIKM was in the 30's and doomed, doomed, doomed according to many posters. For me it's a good lesson that it ain't over 'til it's over, and I'll take any limited success we can get. ^^^THIS!^^^

That's why right before BTIKM came out I went to Pulse and re-read the entire FYE thread and the singles threads for FYE, WWFM and IIHY. I still say this song could have better if pop radio would have played it and sorry I just don't buy any of the reasons given for them not giving it a chance when you look at some of the other shit that gets played. It really feels to me like radio is playing fucking mind games with Adam. They totally rejected FYE and played the shit out of WWFM which was a pretty bland song on the album but this go round the reject the bland, safe song and play all "we expected something more". Pure D bullshit as far as I'm concerned. No matter what song gets picked for the next single if they don't play the shit out of it then in my opinion they are just fucking with him. I don't think there are any reasonable excuses with what's up for grabs now.

Awww, they weren't really wasted. We support him still and that is a good thing. All these places know he has fierce fans that will stay with him. He is not a one-hit wonder. I would continue to request this song at stations that are still playing. I do hope the new single comes out soon!! It does seem clear that BTIKM has peaked. I was joking (sort of). But I do believe there is much more to the VH1 CD than voting. In fact I think voting is one of the least important criterium. But of course I will continue to vote & requests utilities BTIKM is dead in the water. And then begin anew with single #2! I absolutely and 100% think that the #1 criteria for the VH1 Countdown is $$$ from the labels.

I'm sure the video for the second single will be just as good (although I'm having trouble visualizing an exciting NCOE video lol). We'll vote crazily again too, but it will still need $$$ from RCA to get it high on the CD. So they better not screw it up again.

I don't think there are any reasonable excuses with what's up for grabs now. For a "bland song", WWFM was embraced around the world. It was a great Pop song and it proved it by climbing to the top of the charts in every country and in the end garnered Adam a Grammy nomination. Even now, it is a recurrent song that stands the test of time. Compare WWFM's current spins to IIHY's current spins. There is no contest! Truly great Pop songs are ones that listeners want to hear over and over for years. That's what WWFM is. BTIKM was not the Pop song that WWFM was. It never was. Radio is not trying to fuck with Adam. There were reasons why FYE wasn't accepted by PDs, but then WWFM was. If RCA delivers another song like WWFM to the Pop stations, and their listeners respond to it, they will play it. There isn't some giant conspiracy against Adam or his music. RCA released a downtempo song which was suited to HAC and that's exactly which stations played it. Any of the four choices sound better suited for CHR. I don't care what they pick, but it's time to move on the next single and get something out there that has a chance on Pop stations! RCA is SO effing slow, that many times they end up sabotaging their own release strategies! :
