I think one reason Adam gets so much more questions about his audience and their age or gender is that Adam's target market is not really understood yet. Adam is a pioneer, his ultimate target market is unclear.
Compare it let's say to Scotty (I know, I know, but bear with me for a moment). He also comes off idol like Adam, is only 17 years old, but everything is lined up. Everybody understands the market he is in within 5 seconds. There are radio programs, award shows, boiler-plate marketing programs ready to go for him before he ever gets off the darn show. So, nobody has any questions. Nobody asks about the age of his fan base, which is also mixed (as typical for country music), because his market does not create any questions.
Adam's audience is leaning female and that is about all you can say right now. Not extremely helpful. Everybody hopes that his new album will widen his audience and fan base, but nobody knows yet, what audience it will find. That is why they are grasping for anything they can find. Age is an obvious characteristic to latch onto. People were expecting the gay community to be a target audience and are surprised that so much of his fan base is straight. Some were expecting that Adam would target the classic rock audience, but obviously Adam made pop music, not rock. But he is not exactly doing what others are doing in the pop market either, probably can't, given his profile. So, it leaves those that are trying to figure this out with more questions than answers.
I think that ultimately this will be only answered with time and the answer will probably be that Adam defines and creates his own unique market.
If the new album can pull in a younger audience in the US, similar to what has already happened oversees, then this will be a good step towards those silly questions at least becoming less misleading, because I don't think that Adam's audience has this age slant based on his music, it is imo a result of AI.

Yay houselady! of course i loved the Valentine interview. Bourgie (sic) about candles. oh adam. yankee candle is not sophisticated enough for him. lol. wonder what he thinks of gold canyon, right. Adam does say "bourgie." I assume that is slang for bourgeois. Is that something the "kids" are saying that this Old Lady fan doesn't know about? I added "copacetic" and "symbiotic relationship" to the "Adam talks" thread. Please, others, take a minute to add your favorite Adam vocabulary.

Koshka, I think you're talking about my post. By "if it hits" I basically meant if NCOE can have a real presence on radio and CHR. It doesn't mean it has to smash, it just needs to chart high enough for it to be considered a CHR hit.
I guess the "indications" I was talking about were more general (obviously there are no guarantees). But the song is uptempo and has that "Bruno sound" that is working so well on CHR right now, and it is very radio-safe yet Adam still manages to make it interesting. Adam and his team have clearly worked the song about as hard as you can, and it seems to be getting a VERY good response from all who have heard it. And, I guess I am putting a lot of faith in RCA right now that they have researched with radio what single has the best chance at this point in time. The failure of BTIKM to connect on about every level (radio, sales) means that the pressure is really on for the next single. The label must know this. And it feels to me like they have pulled out all the stops for this song. And from the last couple acoustic performances, Adam is really selling it. And I guess I am feeling his confidence in the song.
