I think one reason Adam gets so much more questions about his audience and their age or gender is that Adam's target market is not really understood yet. Adam is a pioneer, his ultimate target market is unclear. Compare it let's say to Scotty (I know, I know, but bear with me for a moment). He also comes off idol like Adam, is only 17 years old, but everything is lined up. Everybody understands the market he is in within 5 seconds. There are radio programs, award shows, boiler-plate marketing programs ready to go for him before he ever gets off the darn show. So, nobody has any questions. Nobody asks about the age of his fan base, which is also mixed (as typical for country music), because his market does not create any questions. Adam's audience is leaning female and that is about all you can say right now. Not extremely helpful. Everybody hopes that his new album will widen his audience and fan base, but nobody knows yet, what audience it will find. That is why they are grasping for anything they can find. Age is an obvious characteristic to latch onto. People were expecting the gay community to be a target audience and are surprised that so much of his fan base is straight. Some were expecting that Adam would target the classic rock audience, but obviously Adam made pop music, not rock. But he is not exactly doing what others are doing in the pop market either, probably can't, given his profile. So, it leaves those that are trying to figure this out with more questions than answers. I think that ultimately this will be only answered with time and the answer will probably be that Adam defines and creates his own unique market. If the new album can pull in a younger audience in the US, similar to what has already happened oversees, then this will be a good step towards those silly questions at least becoming less misleading, because I don't think that Adam's audience has this age slant based on his music, it is imo a result of AI....younger audience ain't happening if he keeps coming out with the WWFM-BTIKM-NCOE type singles... ...all I get from the kids "around" me (i.e my kids and their friends - all college crowd) is - "another boring song"... I am truly sick of that, I need TP on, so they can shut up with the "boring" stuff... ... it has to be electronic, crazy beat, can't-help-but-dance type song... and don't tell me about 135 rate on NCOE, cause it does not come across that way. ...sorry for beating this very, very dead horse... :-[ actually, even my mid-80s mom prefers TP to NCOE... go figure...

Well I think I'm quoting you... here is the sentence that I'm not quite going along with. "If it hits (and all indications are that it will) then it will pave the way for something more adventurous like Trespassing. But, NCOE is a great radio-friendly CHR song. And the Bruno connection won't hurt."I don't see that it has any indication that it will "hit" any more than the other songs in the running. Honestly, I'm not a fan of NCOE as a single for a few reasons... but we don't need to start a dead horse conversation. I think Adam sings it very well, I'm just not on board. I don't think it is a "sure fire hit" ETA: just for clarification on my side, I don't think the song will bomb or anything, I'm just not sure it is any more of a slam dunk than the other songs. I didn't say this! My comment was referring to the singles being more suited for just CHR or CHR and HAC! I think you have my post confused with someone else's! Bullsfan clarified this on pg. 14. The nested quote looked like you wrote this... sorry for the confusion. Bullsfan... thanks for expanding your thoughts.

My greatest fear about NCOE being chosen as the next single is that it will played mostly on HAC stations. I do NOT see the song as CHR material nor is it representative of Adam's true spirit at all IMO. I guess I'm sick of RCA choosing anyone BUT Adam's songs as singles (since the concensus is that NCOE will be the next single) and it will be that much harder for CUCKOO or TRESPASSING to be released. I don't want Adam perceived and pigeonholed as a HAC artist.

For me.. (i'm don't recall this being stated yet) the length of the line/lyric is much longer than many of the biggest recent hits. Probably a product of people who can't sing or hold a note. *shrug* This is essentially what we are used to listening to. I actually find some elements (without dead horse beating) of this song riskier than Trespassing. ETA: "guess I'm sick of RCA choosing anyone BUT Adam's songs as singles" Strangely, this doesn't even bother me.

WWFM did not hurt Adam in any way anywhere in the world. It was not an HAC song. It gained him plenty of young fans. Young fans love Bruno's songs. I see no reason that NCOE should be a song for "old people". If Bruno's other songs can get tons of play on CHR stations, there is no reason that NCOE can't do the same.
Koshka: Thanks! I see that now! That's what I get for reading the thread from front to back! lol
